Best Head Combo for Vintage Drums

Looking for some opinions here: what are some good head combinations for vintage drums? Any regular heads fit just fine (no specific need for the larger diameter heads like aquarian american vintage).

Thanks!

What kind of drums do you have? And what kind of sound are you looking for. Typically, something like a coated Ambasador or Emperor over a smooth white Ambassador .... that's a good place to start with a quality kit, like a Ludwig, Rogers, Slingerland, Gretsch, etc. I also like Controlled Sound (example: black dot), Powerstroke 3 and Evans Genera (though the Genera limits size to 10, 12, 13, 14)

Thanks for the responses! I have a set of 1964 Slingerlands. I've heard a lot of good and bad regarding fiberskyns so I was thinking of trying something different (initially). The calfskins are very intriguing...my only fear is the constant tuning due humidity...

Heads with "dots" work well with 60s and 70s drums. Good luck.
