My Sonor delite at recording session

These are my beautiful Sonor delite drums with Birdseye cherry finish at a recording session for a demo by my band "Lancer"

However, the drums are blended with sampled drums in the mix, but I was pretty pleased to hear them recorded =)

Love the Sonor and the finish. Very nice tympani in the background as well.

Keeping it METAL !!!

I used some samples also this last recording just so my kick wouldn't sound so muddy. I still tried to keep the overall acoustic tones as best as possible on the toms, we'll see how it turns out.

That is a beautiful kit, excellent choice of heads also; I bet it sounds like a dream live.
 
Beautiful kit, and really nice cymbal selection you have there too. But do you think you have enough moon gels on your ride?

Also thats a very interesting room to record in, it seems to me like It'd be very loud, and not give off a nice natural reverb at all. But then again, I'm only looking, not listening.

Killer finish though, specs?

I've never owned a set of Sonors, but there's something about them that really appeal to me. I think it's a combination of the finishes and the hardware. Both are very aesthetically pleasing. Anyway, great kit. Sweet set of cymbals too. And I dig those stealth stands. (I think I would have a installed new snare head before recording though.)

They do sound great live, certainly from where I sit anyways =)

I didn´t end up using that ride at all, the sound engineer complained about the sympathetic resonating in the closest tom and the ride vibrating for a annoyingly loooong time so I choose to you see the Istanbul ride you can see in the photo of me playing It works out nice for live occations though...

The room has dampening plates in the ceiling as well as parts of the walls (not visible here though) so it´s not a problem. I was supposed to record in a much larger room but it was unavailable unfortunately. Please take a listen to the result if you feel like it, I´m quite happy with the result....

Specs:

22 bass drum
8,10,13 toms
16 floor tom
(I also have a 14 tom and a 18 floor tom witch I didn´t use)

8 Meinl Amun splah
12 AAX splash (brilliant)
16 & 18 AAX studio chrashes
19 Zildjian K Hybrid China
12 AA mini hats
13 HH bright hats
20 Istanbul ride

Sonor & gibraltar hardware.

I feel you... That was my impression after hearing and reading lots about sonor too. Not to mention hearing and seeing them live! =)

I was thinking about changing the snare head but was satisfied with the sound (although it looks like crap) and didn´t feel like taking the risk as I´m no master of tuning! =)

Ok.... Why is that? The ride was in fact creating some strange overtones that was leaking in to other microphones and resonated for a long time.

I´m not too familiar with sound engineering or acoustics so please feel free to elaborate on what you mean.

Yes, we recorded the drums in the classical percussion rehersal room.
