Show Off Your DW Kit

Re: DW owners unite!

I think this is the longest DW thread I have ever read without somebody making a derogatory comment about DW. Nice, you DW slammers stay out of this thread.

I have owned a DW Collectors maple in orange sparkle finish ply and a DW Jazz kit in Champagne glass glitter. Both were nice kits, no issues whatsoever. Easy to tune and get a good sound out of.

Hi,
First post here. I like the overall friendly tone of this place.
Did someone say DW? Here's my Tamo Ash in Amber to Tobacco burst and all Cherry shell Collectors kits.

Re: DW owners unite!

Thanks for stopping in. The pics are all fantastic. Now I have to get some posted. JBonzo you are sick man. I can't tell which set I like more. A little info on all those snares please.

From the top:
1 - Craviotto 14x5.5 lacquer/natural 24k
2 - Craviotto 14x6.5 satin/nat. Chrome w/Nickleworks throw
3 - Collectors 10/6 14x5 lacq./nat. 24k
4 -tough one. Collectors Hickory? 14x5.5 Chrome
5 - another tough one. Collectors 10/6 14x6 Rainbow exotic? 24k

Not bad.
1- Crav 5.5x13 satin oil with brass (I added three coats of high gloss tung oil)
2- Ding! Ding! Ding!
3- You got it right, except for brass hardware
4- Collectors Birch with amber lacquer
5- Collectors Rosewood exotic 6.5x14 w/ brass
6- Edge brass/maple 6x13 flame maple w/brass hardware

Re: DW owners unite!

It's in my sig. Ruby Glass FinishPly with chrome hardware and Mirror Chrome FinishPly on the BD hoops. The bass drums is "extra virgin"; no tom mount OR spurs. It rides on a cradle and sounds pretty big for an 18". The toms are short-stack 8, 10, 12 and 13", but the 12 and 13 are going to be replaced with 12 and 15" "power" depth toms (floor tom positions). The snare is a 7x13" 10+6 and is crispier than fresh apple slices topped with bacon bits.

Re: DW owners unite!

JBonzo, I flipped a coin between Rainbow and Rosewood, and the 13's threw me. All quite awesome. Nice to see all the black badges too. Mike thanks for the pics. Sweet little 18". You'll have to tell us about that cymbal set up.

Re: DW owners unite!

So I have a few DW snares in my arsenal, shown here:

Vault Edge
Top Edge
Cherry HVLT
Oak stave - DW and Gon Bops dual badge (finish matches kit)

I also have a 6-piece Collectors Series kit in an exotic (figured sycamore) burnt toast finish. I don't have a pic of the entire kit but I've included pics of one of the floor toms to give an idea of the finish.

Re: DW owners unite!

Jbonzo you have an astonishing collection. Did you add the Nickleworks and Trick throws yourself or are they factory.

Re: DW owners unite!

SunDog,
The Nickle's are factory. The other throw is the DW Delta, which I don't like. Had them on three drums and replaced all of them. Very stiff. My favorites are the Drop Style and the new Mag.
I need to photograph my metal DW snares.

Re: DW owners unite!

SteadyPocket, all very nice too. That Vault is about the best snare I've ever heard and one of only 25 made available in N. America. I am rapidly getting out classed here. Sweet drums
