I've called the company and they weren't sure in their US office. They sent a note to their Taiwan office and said they'd get back to me. I'll post what I find.
I just calculated the weight of a 14in x 6.5in x 4.5mm cylinder in both aluminum and stainless steel. The stainless came out to a bit over 14lbs (aluminum would be just under 5lbs) and if you subtract a bit of material for the machined holes and the beveled bearing edge, you get very close to the weight of yours. Stainless is also non ferrous and a magnet will not stick to it
