As after 35+ yrs of playing &auditioning&overcoming both anxiety&depression i,ve AT LONG LAST FINALLY got a professional gig!.I,ve got a Sleishman kit 12" rack&14" floor tom (which's actually suspended). What i need to know is ANY ideas/suggestions as to brands to use for both confined spaces&that're combined/multiple cymbal tom stands?.I'm looking for stands that aren't heavy duty in weight BUT durable flexable&reliable.Where i can suspend both my cymbals&toms without having to use 3 straight cymbal stands as well as tom stands. The stands need to take Pearl style tom arms,
Thanks for reading&your advice,
Adrian.

You can use pretty much any stand for what you described. Pick up some multi clamps and you can easily fly 3-4 things off one stand. I used to mount a tom, a splash, a crash, a cowbell and a tambourine on one stand with no issues.

Pearl makes a three-sided clamp that works pretty well for adding two toms to a stand: http://www.interstatemusic.com/34573-Pearl-ADP30-3-Way-Adjustable-Clamp-ADP30.aspx?sku=PA98530&source=Single+Feed_CASCIO&utm_medium=shoppingengine&utm_source=shoppingdotcom

Gibraltar makes a great 3-way stand that will take up to three tom arms and/or cymbal booms (you add those parts): http://www.gibraltarhardware.com/?fa=detail&mid=2699&sid=677&cid=30 You can get a three-way platform separately to drop into your existing cymbal bases: http://www.gibraltarhardware.com/?fa=partsdetail&curcat=2&bnd=11&cid=137&sid=781&pid=1585

Consider a Stealth rack: http://www.gibraltarhardware.com/?fa=series&sid=616&cid=31

Or a "cymbal station" spanner bar: http://www.gibraltarhardware.com/?fa=partsdetail&curcat=2&bnd=11&cid=137&sid=781&pid=2674

The Gibraltar Stealth racks are nice, but if you want to stick with stands you should look into the Yamaha 3-hole receiver. They fit into any manufacturer's 7/8 stand base (which is what most cymbal stand bases are), and they allow you to put 3 cymbal or tom arm downtubes into them.

I just got one last week in order to go back to a 2-up, 1-down setup, and I have the 2 rack toms and a cymbal boom on one stand. I actually plan on getting another one and putting it in facing the other direction into the single hole where the cymbal arm is now, creating a 4 hole stand that I can have the 2 toms and 2 cymbal booms on one stand.

I also plan on getting another one and combining my ride and right-side crash into one stand, and then adding another boom arm to that side for another crash or an effects cymbal like a china.

I use the medium weight (740 series) Yamaha stands and they seem to me to be the best hardware in the weight vs strength spectrum. I also like the Pearl 900 series stands but they are much more expensive and they are double braced so they are much heavier with no real gains in strength or stability.

I use 2 Yamaha stands, each with a 3 receiver post. One holds my 8" tom and 2 cymbals. The other used to hold 2 floor toms and the ride on my old Mapex kit but now holds my ride, a crash and will likely hold a second crash as well.
