Custom 14X4.5" Cherry Snare

I got this snare drum built by Terry Laurenzio here in Ottawa, Canada. It is 14X4.5" steam bent shell with maple re-rings. The reason why it has maple re-rings is to prevent the shell from warping. It becomes an issue when the shell is thicker than average. The shell thickness is about a half inch and the finish is high gloss (about 7 coats). If you have any questions feel free to ask and if you would like to contact Terry just let me know.

Hope you enjoy.

Very nice indeed. Should offer a very crisp sound.
Also like that the inside label is dated and personal.

Man that's purdy...I'd love to hear it! Cherry is supposed to be very warm. Re-rings look great, being a different color and wood-type.

Hot! My first thought certainly was "I`d like one, too.".
Awesome looking snare drum, really really exclusive with these tube lugs!

I keep the option of going for a more shallow snare drum in mind since I`ve got my beech 14x6.5". A 3.5" or 4.5" beech would add something to the rest of my set I`m sure.

A real beauty you got there!

Hi guys, just ran into this by accident. Glad to hear you like the cherry snare drum. It has a surprisingly full body sound for a 4.5". Cherry is a warm sounding wood. I just completed a Solid cherry set for myself and it was this drum that inspired me to go with cherry.

Cheers
TL

Beautiful. I don't know anything about drum building so forgive my ignorance. I would think a thinner shell would be more prone to warping than a thicker shell. Can anyone explain this to me?

Wow, gorgeous drum kit. That wood grain is beautiful. I can see why that inspired you to get the snare in Cherry. Great stuff man, hope you enjoy the drum!
