Hello.I just got a ludwig classic maple 26x14 bass drum 7ply 100% maple.Right now im having trouble controling the pedal. If i just hit the bass drum once i feels like multi strokes.Right now i have a remo powerstroke 3 clear on the batter and a ludwig stock head on the reso with no port.Would putting a hole in the front or a kickport help a bit, or do you guys think a thicker head like a remo coated emperor would be better. Thanks peace

Groovedrummin on YouTube has great tuning videos. He also has a Classic Maple set in Bonham sizes. I think that he uses a coated emperor on batter with a felt strip. Good luck!

I'm currently running a unported PS3 on my 26x16 kick. How tight is the tension on the drum? I usually tune my bigger kicks higher than I'd tune a say 22, so it doesn't feel too flabby.

So many things come into play, here ... including your technique ...
A ported front head alone, might solve the problem .. also ... if you're using a small, plastic beater ... a larger, heavier, felt beater ... I currently use a Vater VB beater ... sounds great, on my 26x16 Luddy ... and then getting your foot/beater off that head quick ...
