Hi hat tambourine

Hi all.

I've after a hi- hat tambourine (or ching ring). The trouble is I have very little rod space (my clutch practically sits at the top) so something you can fit between the clutch or just rest on top of the hats would be ideal. Like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130601345947 I notice cannon make a version: http://www.amazon.com/Cannon-MAH8N-Ching-Ring/dp/B005MRT4ZS/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt or perhaps even this will do: http://www.keplingerdrums.com/percussion.php.

I've been searching the net for about an hour now and can't seem to find anything similar to buy in the UK. They only seem to be sold in the US. Obviously I could get one shipped over but that would probably cost more than the tambourine! Also I need it for next week.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help.

PS I don't need to hit it with a stick, just for use with the foot pedal.

somebody on her e posted a homemade one, with two thin hard rubber strips , chings on the both ends, and rubber holes in the middle of strips (to thread through your hihat rod). Makes a criss-cross pattern on top of your hat.

Not sure how much room you need. My clutch has only 1 to 1.5 cm at the top but its just enough to fit the regular ching ring on.

Thanks Opentune.

Yes I was also thinking that making one may be the best option.

I do have probably1cm although I imagine if my hi-hat comes loose the tambourine will come flying off!

I do have a longer rod somewhere... If I can find that then problem solved.

Anyone else have any ideas or product recommendations...?

Thanks.

Try this: http://www.thomann.de/gb/tambourines.html?ls=100

They have what you are looking for. About halfway down the page is the LP191 Cyclops Jingle Ring. It looks like it would fit on 1cm of rod. I know the store is in Germany, but that's a lot closer than the US. Be about 30EUR or 25GBP shipped. That sounds good I guess, considering I only am familiar with dollars!

It is not hard to get or make another hihat rod and cut it to length. It's just just quarter-inch steel rod than can be purchased at a hardware store and easily cut and threaded. I'd suggest getting a new length of rod that's about an inch longer than what you need. I, too, have a very short hihat pull rod but I leave about an inch over for my jingle rings.
