Looking for an electronic kit on a budget

Im getting married soon, so I dont have the $$$$ for a roland kit. Ive narrowed my choice down to either the Simmons SD5K or the Alesis DM5. Can anyone offer any insight as to which would be the better buy? im working with a budget of around $600.

buy Roland/Yamaha used.

I wouldn't settle for either; they are essentially one step up from toys based on my experience playing with them both. I agree with the previous poster, climb on eBay or Craigslist and try to find a deal on a used Roland or Yamaha set.

Agree with last two posts...I've played both Yamaha and Roland e-kits...personally prefer Yamaha to Roland....more reasonable and better sounding IMO....

I got a Roland TD-3 on craigslist for $400. I see at least one a month, usually from $500 to $700. Sometimes I see a TD-4...for like 750. I'd go this route. Ultimately you won't be happy with the lower end stuff. To tell you the truth, you probably won't be happy with a lower end roland either. Need more inputs and a "realistic" hi hat IMO.
