  • Evans Emad Resonant 22" Bass Drum Skin with 5” Microphone Hole and Two Interchangeable Foam Rings?
  • Evans G1 Coated 22" Bass Drum Head?
  • Evans EQ3 22" Display Head For Bass Drum?
  • 22" Evans EQ1 Resonant Coated Bass Drum Head Skin:1 Ply?
  • Or is there any others you recommend?

I had the EMAD combo a few years back on an old kit. Foam rings broke off on both batter and reso.

Rumour has it they've addressed these issues, but I couldn't say.

Sounded good before failing though.

Have you experimented with a non-muffled reso yet?

You really need to have a solid reference point for your particular drum and preferences before you press on.

IMHO, two muffled heads can be a little bid dead sounding.

I used the Aquarian regulator head with the Evans pillow just touching the batter (EMAD single ply) However like the previous reply said. The plastic rings keep breaking so I am now on the the PS3 . Nice

I use the coated EMAD, and have had wonderful results with an EQ3 smooth white on front. It's a sweet, controlled thump with a little boom, no padding needed.

I use the EMAD batter with EMAD reso and it sounds great - fat and deep. I've had no problems with any of the rings.

I had the same question but instead of spending 60€ on a REMAD (that's basically the same as a ported stock P3 with foam ring), I bought a strip of black felt to dry out the P3.

Mind you, a ported P3 is already muffled because of the ring and the hole. If it's still too ringy, a coated reso or a felt strip will dry it out just like the foam ring.

Turning the highs on the EQ down on the front of the house and boosting the lows.

I run an evans emad with the small ring, and a remo fiberskyn on the front. 22x20 bd, no internal muffling... sounds so good.
