Bass pedal BEATER help

The felt pads on my old DW5000 beaters have finally worn down and I'm in the market for replacements. I mostly play grunge, progressive rock, and some thrash metal kind of tunes. I learned double pedal and my 5000's and though I am not incredibly fast, I'm much more comfortable with heavier pedals. So basically, I'm trying to say that you will never see me ever so slightly ankle tapping blast beats.

All that said, I'm basically torn between the DW beaters http://drums-percussion.musiciansfriend.com/product/DW-Twoway-Bass-Drum-Beater?sku=442122

and the four-sided Pearl beaters http://drums-percussion.musiciansfriend.com/product/Pearl-B200QB-4-Sided-Quad-Beater-Bass-Drum-?sku=448246

I am not interested in Cobra or Axis beaters, both are far too light for my taste. I also am not interested in wood or plastic.

Could anybody with possible experience with one or both of these beaters comment on their weight difference and whether or not there will be a big adjustment if I switched to Pearl? I fear their might be after using the same beaters for 6 years.

Guess my thoughts are if you have been happy with what's been on there then replace it with the same thing ;-) I switched from the DW 2 way to a round Danmar felt and like the feel better but that is just me. I played the 101's for some 20 years. Can't go wrong with them.

I'd go with the high mass of the DW beaters. I play prog-metal and I bought the Trick Pro1V bigfoot double detonator and the beaters that came with that pedal are ridiculously lightweight. I switched them out with the big DW beaters from my 7002 and revesed them so I'm playing with the hard plastic side to get a nice snap. I also use Falam Slam kevlar (or whatever they're made of) patches on my bass drum heads. It sounds awesome.

the pearl are definitly heavier than a lot of beaters but not as heavy as say those gibraltar red oak beaters, now those mothers have some weight.

Using Axis Al-2's...with these....

I'm happy with the weight. It's definitely not the protusive Sonic Hammers and the adjustable head helps with micro-fine position to the strike angle.
