The felt pads on my old DW5000 beaters have finally worn down and I'm in the market for replacements. I mostly play grunge, progressive rock, and some thrash metal kind of tunes. I learned double pedal and my 5000's and though I am not incredibly fast, I'm much more comfortable with heavier pedals. So basically, I'm trying to say that you will never see me ever so slightly ankle tapping blast beats.
All that said, I'm basically torn between the DW beaters http://drums-percussion.musiciansfriend.com/product/DW-Twoway-Bass-Drum-Beater?sku=442122
and the four-sided Pearl beaters http://drums-percussion.musiciansfriend.com/product/Pearl-B200QB-4-Sided-Quad-Beater-Bass-Drum-?sku=448246
I am not interested in Cobra or Axis beaters, both are far too light for my taste. I also am not interested in wood or plastic.
Could anybody with possible experience with one or both of these beaters comment on their weight difference and whether or not there will be a big adjustment if I switched to Pearl? I fear their might be after using the same beaters for 6 years.
