When I ordered my Classic Maples, I was given the choice of getting Remo or Ludwig Weathermaster heads. I chose the Ludwigs (coated, medium). I like the sound, but they are thin. I love it on the snare, but for the toms, they have a shorter life span than I would like. I am keeping the resonant heads. (They are my all time favorite for reso's). I may try Evans for batter heads eventually, but the Ludwig heads aren't bad at all as far as sound is concerned. On the toms, they sound a lot like what you hear on a lot of the old 50's jazz/bop recordings. I wouldn't recommend them for metal drumming (too thin), but if you play other styles, they are fine.
The kick drum batter head wiht the power collar is outstanding. I have played comparable heads but none better. I have two Ludwig bass drum reso heads (one white w/ pld logo, one black w/ newer logo. both ported) and they are great.
