Greg Bissonette Drum Clinic

Just back from a great clinic with Greg Bisonnette at Seminole Music and Sound. This guy can play. Any genre or style. Great stories to tell with his travels with David Lee Roth , ELO, Maynard Ferguson, and of course his favorite drummer, Ringo and his All Starr band. If you get the chance and he is close, make the trip. He will be at the Chicago Drum show this weekend if you can make it. The Sea Foam Green kit is Gregs and the yellow kit is John Blackwells. Both Dixon endorsees. Johns kit was there as a tribute of sorts as John continues to convalesce from his medical issues.

I bet that was great. I've noticed that Dixon adds are looking pretty convincing lately. They must be doing something right if Greg is playing them. Nice pics.

The parent company wasn't mentioned, but Dixon was making OEM drums for others for years. The kit shown in green is a mid priced model, Fuse, that is the same finish as Gregs Ultra Maple. What I saw was definitely well built and worth a look.

Did he mention Tony Williams at all? I think he studied with him for a bit.

A buddy and former bandmate of mine has played with Greg at one of those "Ultimate Jam Nights" at the Whiskey in CA.

Gregg is my drum instructor/mentor as well as my friend. He is a phenomenal drummer and an exceptional teacher. Studying with him is beyond a dream come true as I never would have the audacity to even dream I would be learning from a world class drummer such as Gregg. I am very lucky!

Do not miss a chance to see Ringo's All-Starr Band or attend one of Gregg's clinics.

I went to a Gregg Bissonette clinic at Scott's Drum Center in Lafayette, Lousiana back when Bissonette was playing Mapex. He is a great drummer who puts on a nice clinic. Peace and goodwill.

I saw Ringo's All Starr band a few years ago when Greg was his drummer. He has some interesting stories to tell about Ringo. Also some tales about Bernard Purdies ever expanding discography, or supposed discography. Quite interesting. He also mentioned his brother Matt, a bass player, is touring with ssome piano player named Elton John, or something like that.

I took a lesson from Gregg in 2008 and everything you said is spot on. He went form sounding authentic Latin to Tony Williams in an instant. I learned more than I could ever get to in that hour.

Amazing drummer. He's one of those guys who you only see do rock stuff but he's one of those guys who's annoyingly good at everything.

Nobody has mentioned he is also the longest surviving drummer in Spinal Tap as well!

I think he's the drummer for ELO as well.

If you go to Youtube and look up ELO, Zoom, there are a number of videos, songs with Gregg and ELO that he said was to be a live tour that was called off because of 9/11 and never rescheduled. The music is great. His brother Matt played the bass on this album.

My bad, I blame Jeff Lynne for having a hairstyle that never ages :)

Gregg did a clinic years ago at Chad Sexton's Drum City [RIP]. It was both informational and fun. He even talked about his adventures as voicing Winnie The Pooh. Nice guy.

Got his educational DVD a few years back.

Superb, versatile player with plenty to say!
