Big shoes to fill, especially immediately after the fact. It was such a distinctive style that he had to follow I think that he had little choice but to do his own thing. Unfortunately by doing so he cops the flak for "not being Moonie".....however, if he tried to copy every Moon lick I fear he'd have copped even more. A genuine case of 'damned if he did, damned if he didn't.' I think in reality it was just too soon. Zac fits well now given the passage of time, but I very much doubt he would have been so readily accepted if he stepped up to the plate in '79. I think anyone who sat in that chair at that time was on a hiding to nothing. Tough gig......even tougher crowd.
Easy to see why Zepp made it easier on themselves and called it a day.
