Default Re: Questions about Texas music scenes

probably somewhere in between. most of the shows are in dallas. dallas has a huge entertainment district called deep ellum that is a few blocks of clubs and tattoo shops. alot of metalcore shows happen in the suburbs too up in plano.

http://thedoorclubs.com/mastercalendar.htm kind of confusing calendar but you can see most of the shows are at the door in plano, or the prophet bar in dallas. there are some shows in ft. worth but not near as many as dallas.

living in the actual city of dallas is really expensive though so you might want to find something near dallas. east dallas is really sketchy, but you can probably find something decent in oak cliff (south) . north dallas is really expensive around the SMU campus lower greenville area is very trendy and quite expensive, but it is a cool place to spend a day, lots of bars, restaurants, cool shops, etc. most of the clubs in dallas are in deep ellum which is right in downtown. arlington is between dallas and ft. worth there is a big college there UTA, home of pantera, the texas rangers but that is about it. no shows in arlington.

you will for sure need a car in dallas, there is no reliable public transportation around and like I said alot of shows end up in the suburbs like plano which is 45 minutes north of dallas. denton is also about 45 minutes northwest of dallas, and home to university of north texas which has a huge music school, and there is always a good scene in denton. dfw is a huge commuter area and there isn't really a centralized scene.
