Just in case everyone thought Indian drummers only sat cross legged and played the tabla, I thought I'd introduce Ranjit Barot, my good friend and one of India's foremost drum(set) players. Along with being a very successful music producer, whos worked with Bruce Swedeen, Ranjit is a great musician as well.
Ranjit has recently finished recording an album with John Mclaughlin, and is a killer player who has worked as a drummer in New York as well. He has absorbed many styles, and brings a very interesting spicy curried flavor to the drums.
This clip unfortunately is a montage of many tunes, which blend into each other rather suddenly, but you'll get the idea.
It'll be great if you could let me know what you think.
