I had to oval the holes with a round file just a bit to allow the Atlas Arch to make the span distance. Being that the 22" drum has 8 lugs the spacing of the lugs was about 1/4" to far. If you look closely at the pics you can see that the Atlas lugs are slightly closer than the Gretsch lugs on the front head. The holes don't show with the Atlas mounts installed. If I ever reinstall the original lugs they would also cover the oval holes.
I am never going to remove the Atlas Arch because I am totally satisfied with the mounting system. I haven't had any issues with the Atlas mounts choking any of the 4 drums that I have installed them on.
I have also installed them on vintage Ludwig and Slingerland kits that I own.
If you have a 10 lug 22" bass drum, installing the Arch will not be a problem.
