Default Re: Drummers who've inspired your playing

As a teen, the guy playing on the album that really got me thinking serious about drumming was Bill Stewart playing on Maceo Parker's "Mo Roots".

Having two older brothers studying jazz at university meant I'd been listening to jazz everyday since I was 9 years old, but it was that Maceo album that really got me into drumming when I was 15 years old.

From there, it was Max Roach, Philly Joe Jones, Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, Jimmy Cobb, Melvin Parker, Stewart Copeland, Steve Williams (Shirley Horn), Steve Gadd, Steve Jordan, Jack DeJohnette, Ed Thigpen, Tony Williams, Kenwood Dennard, John Riley and many more!
