Hello all, I bought this Gretsch Renown (8 piece) Purewood kit on Ebay about 6 years ago from a guy who had it for an unknown length of time. I am more than curious to learn what type of wood these shells are made from. I tried contacting Gretsch at the time and did quite a bit of research but could not discover any difinitive information on the kit, its wood, or history. "Mistress Gretschen" is quite a woman. She likes to be beaten and never complains. My exotic beauty is from a mysterious place and I yearn to learn more about her origins. If anyone knows anything please let me know.

The best match for grain and color was Macacuba or Macawood I think but this may not be correct. Thanks
