Re: What are your stories of when people found out you are drummer?

I seem to get the Neal Peart question asked right away, as well.
I haven't figured out one of those snappy comeback answers yet, but I'm working on it...

Re: Guitar Center Musician's Expo

I showed up and wasn't disappointed.

I saw Bermuda near the Sabian booth and was going to say hi, but he didn't stay long, so I just missed him there.
I checked the cymbals for some new...

Re: New Snare for a Non-Drummer

I was at the local GC today, and they finally had a Supralite in stock on a stand, along with a Supraphonic on a stand so I could play them both. I have to say that I liked the Supralite sound...

Re: WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED

Joe:
Sounds like fun and I'd like to learn that.
Could you upload a transcript to read that groove (unless you've done so already).
I find it easier sometimes to read it along with the...

Re: Vinnie Colaiuta

Why does the guitar player in the last photo look like a Mini-Me compared to the 2 singers?
Pretty funny juxtapositioning of the 3 guys.

Re: Snare suggestions?

+1
I bought the 6.5 x 14 Supralite from GC last December after reading all the rave reviews on DW, and its been an invaluable snare to use for all types of music, economical but solid and musically...

Re: Small and easy to transport drum kit

Based on my experience with the Safari (which is the same kit as the Players, only a 16 x 16) for rehearsals I think you'd love it. Just switch out the heads with one ply batter and clear reso and...

Re: Small and easy to transport drum kit

I've had good success contacting Hohner Inc., USA directly for parts on my Safari. I just call and ask for Drums and if I get voice mail, the sales manager will usually call back within a day to...

Re: Small and easy to transport drum kit

Don't forget the new Sonor Players kit, which is basically a Sonor Safari with a 20x12 bass drum, vs. the 16'16 that comes with the Safari. The Players is new and exclusively sold at Sam Ash for the...

Sonor Players Kit from Sam Ash

Anyone check this new kit out yet at Sam Ash or at NAMM?
The YouTube Video says it is an exclusive from Sam Ash at $449 and its got me seriously considering it now.

Re: USING TEA TOWELS ON DRUM SET

Target's auto dept. has some nice inexpensive microfiber 16" x 16" towels that stick to my snare and toms and don't fly off. They just drape a bit over the edges but they work better than plain cloth...

Re: jungle kit heads

On my Sonor Safari bass drum, I use an Evans Black Chrome (tom) for my batter and Remo Ambassador Vintage for the reso (w/Kickport), and am pretty happy with the sound quality.

I have found that...

Re: Jeff Porcaro

Great reference list- I'll have to listen to a bunch of these. Lowdown's groove took me a long time to understand and play, since at the time I studied it I was not drumming much. But I love the...

Re: Looking at a 2nd smaller kit

+1.
I'm currently using a Sonor Safari (thanks to Bo's reviews) for my group kit (rock and alternate rock covers) and love it. The bass drum has great punch--uses an Evans Black Chrome for the...

Re: Drumming without a drumkit!

Unbelievable, cutting edge and game changing.

Perhaps investment worthy for someone wealthy.

Groovin to the Boz with Jeff

Just re-discovered Boz Scaggs' '77 album "Down Two Then Left," courtesy of YT.
Without realizing who the drummer was, I was marveling at the tight, flowing, definitive grooves on the drumming...

Re: Ludwig Supralite

Based on a lot of Karl's posts re the Supralite in the last few months (and the responses from others who liked it as well), I pulled the trigger and bought one from GC in early December with a 15%...

Re: 24 inch bass drums

Wow- that wrist sweat band thing is just what I've needed to tone down my bass drum in practicing at the house. I grabbed a small one and stretched it over my DW 5000 beater head and immediately...

Windows Media Player also has a setting to slow down a song.
Go to View, Enhancements, Play Speed Settings, and from there you can slow down the song with a slider.

Re: Optimizing Sonor Safari Kit Potential

RP and Bob-thanks for the input, first hand experiences. I enjoy the Safari very much and will probably try to go the mic route for the immediate future. If the sound is robust, I'm guessing the...
