Re: Assistance ID'ing Pearl Snare

To me, it sounds pretty good. I have had worse snares, for sure. There is a youtube link with an audio clip in the above post. Tuned up very easily, too (this coming from someone that isn't great...

Re: Assistance ID'ing Pearl Snare

I'm kinda OCD about open ended threads...

Well, as cheap as the drum was, I went ahead and purchased it. I can honestly say that I have bought newer drums that were in worse shape. Took it...

Re: Transporting a drum set when homeless?

Normally a lurker here...

Do you have a car or truck of some sort? How much in belongings do you have? The drums you have do not have a small footprint. You could always partially disassemble...

Assistance ID'ing Pearl Snare

Hi!
Found this for sale locally, and caught my attention. All I know about it is that it is a Pearl and chrome...and that is about it. Seems to be eight lugs, too. I looked up the PEARL badge,...

Re: 1941 Leedy Drumset

Wish he would have pics of the cymbals. I rarely ever hear about those Zenjians, and what I do hear, it is a mix of truth and fiction. I got one here (12") and it sounds really good. MY daughter...

Re: Ludwig Standard Aluminum Snare-- Thoughts?

Errrr, bump? Figured I'd post the final standing of the snare and audio of what it sounds like (for posterity). Kinda OCD about leaving the thread open ended...

Now that I had the time and $$ to...

Re: Value of Ludwig Rocker drum set

It really depends on condition. I got mine (Rocker II's) for $150, but needed tension rods and a front hoop for the bass drum. Needed a couple other little things as well. After heads and...

Re: whining snare. please help

When you mean "whine", do you mean a high pitched, almost twang that lingers after you hit the drum? Mine was doing it (still does, but nowhere near as much). In my case, it was the top head...

Re: Mystery bass drum.... ID help, please!

Mystery bass drum.... ID help, please!

Hi!
Purchased a cheap bass drum (mostly for the parts--needed a set of matching tension rods and a hoop for my Ludwig Rocker II's. The Rocker was complete, but I just wanted a matching set instead...

Re: 16" bass drum... Hints/Suggestions?

Update!

Now that Xmas is close by, I am finishing up the little project. With heads, I went with a 16" Remo PS3 Coated head, and some felt for muffling. The little bass does pack a punch,...

Re: Your favourite drum fills of all time, EVER!

This is from a concert the UT Chattanooga percussion department puts on during Thanksgiving as a benefit to a food bank (admission is two cans of food. Woot!). Anyway, they are performing a version...

Re: The Ludwig Acrolite

What is it they call it... a player's drum? Pretty much what she is. I put it on the bottom earlier this evening, but I didn't find the sound to be too different from the regular hoops, so I put it...

Re: The Ludwig Acrolite

Modified my Bluecrolite today (silly name, I know) with a die cast batter hoop. Sorta. Ordered the hoop, and it turns out it was a snare side hoop.... Can't complain for $20, though....

It is...

Re: Metronome plus Samples Live, how to ?

Depending on availability, couldn't you just stockpile some of those Y adapters? I mean, you could have a total of 5 or so. One breaks, and you have a new one waiting in the wings. That's the...

Re: 16" bass drum... Hints/Suggestions?

Hmmm.... she does know the whole SNL cowbell schtick... She might like a tambourine, though. Something to ponder :)

Re: 16" bass drum... Hints/Suggestions?

Had my oldest wail away on the bass drum. Lots of "Boom" but not a whole lot of punchiness. I forgot to mention the beater was one of those DW's that has the soft part on one side and the hard...

Re: My daughter's first drum set

My daughter is going to be eight this December, and she wants a set as well. Been catching her banging on everything to the music. Even caught her doing the shuffle beat (is that is what it is...

Re: The Ludwig Acrolite

I didn't realize it would have that big an impact, truth be told. I just liked the way it looked (got the shell, then started piecing it together). Have to keep the internal muffler slightly on to...

Re: The Ludwig Acrolite

Hmmmm....
VERY interesting comparison!! I always thought that the lugs made a difference, but wow! You are right, the difference from 0 lugs to 4 is much bigger than 4 to 8. I'm assuming these...

Re: The Ludwig Acrolite

Well, just to open up your horizon's a bit (hopefully not too big a derail...), you can also look for a Ludwig Standard Aluminum snare. Why do I bring it up? Same shell as the Supra and the Acro,...

Hi!

Not a drum builder, but really curious about the project! I do have a question, though. I am no expert in ceramics, so bear with me. I know ceramics can be plenty strong (as you mentioned...

Re: 16" bass drum... Hints/Suggestions?

Thanks! I'm sure I will. New project for me :)

I just feel a bass drum that is 16" would make her feel more...comfortable? Plus, she probably wouldnt have to kick a 16" as hard as a 22" to make...
