Re: Peter Criss

I also grew up wanting to play like Peter Criss. There are way more "technically proficient" drummers out there, but his work on Alive! was full of feeling- just great rock drumming with a bit of...

Re: Do you ever stand back from your drums...

I always stand back and look at my kit after setting up for a gig, or even setting up at my house.
if you look back and love what you see, you are a lucky individual for sure.

Re: How do you feel the day after a gig?

I usually feel tired due to lack of sleep... most weeknights I am asleep by 10-10:30pm.
Gig nights I get home at 1:30-2:30am and then I can't sleep because I am all wound up after playing and...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

I saw one of the blue sets at GC. I am tempted by a USA Ludwig maple kit at that price, but I really don't dig the finish.
That probably means I am shallow, but if I don't like what I see when I...

Re: Drummers around 5'6" - What size drums do you have?

I am 5'5" and use a 22" bass drum with 10" and 12" rack and 16" floor.
I have the ride on a straight stand set up to cover 25% of the floor tom. I bring the floor and ride in close, so if I am...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

Another reason why Ludwig should just stay out of Guitar Center.
I wonder why they chose to place the new Signet line in GC in the first place. Pretty obvious that outside of a black beauty snare...

Re: once again.....

Just my 2 cents....

Some places we play want the band to be quieter for the first set. I can adjust both my playing and use lighter sticks. I have even used The "hot Rods" bundle of dowels type...

Re: Looking for a good intermediate kit for about $600

I have been very happy with my Ludwig Element Birch set. I was looking for something to gig with so I could leave my USA made set safe at home.
Honestly, it was the Sunburst finish that caught my...

Re: Do you play the drum part exactly the same each night?

Since I play in a cover band, I have to be aware of any signature drum parts in a song that a crowd "expects" to hear. The guys in my band appreciate when I use the same fills in the same places on...

Re: Some thoughts on keeping time

I find this thread to be very interesting.
It seems you folks are a good mix of professional, working band, and amateur players and I would love to read some opinions on a time keeping question.

Re: Rock Gigs Not Very Rock Anymore?

I play in a classic rock bar/club band and we get exactly this almost every time- no reaction/applause except for one or two drunk people, then at the end of the night everyone is telling us how much...
