This nostalgia could ride the rails with anything modern, including the higher end. You can get a furniture finish that makes these pale in comparison if that is your thing. You can get exotic woods...

Drums are from 1970. All of the parts you need are available either through various ebay sellers or with a few guys who sell through some of the forums like Drum Forum Dot Org or Vintage Drum Forum....

I have owned Rogers drums since 1979. Before that I played Rogers from 74-76. I owned Ayotte Custom from 2001-2011.

Rogers Powertone will get you 8 lugs, chrome over brass shell, an indestructible totally dependable throw off, fantastic sensitivity, and really cool vintage mojo. And all right in your budget range.

Five inchers and Six Point Fivers... have been the two basic standards most of my life. Six is sort of an oddball size. Five and a half..... that's been around a long time too, vintage Slingerland...

Too bad I did not know about this earlier. I was in Sac today.

Anyway. First thing would be to get the proper tension rods for your snare drum. Nothing has been done here that cannot be fixed....

I "collect" Rogers. My collection spans 1961-1984. There are 8 sets and close to 30 snare drums.
So I guess I would answer yes to at least one or two of your questions. .

I doubt re-wrap. This color was only produced for about five years. It has never been duplicated to my knowledge.


Snare drum is a throw away.
