Re: Pearl sensitone alumium

I have tried a Pearl Sensitone Aluminium Elite and also recorded one but the 14 x 6.5. I thought it was really nice, and we got a great sound from the top mic, but the bottom didn't sound so good...

I will leave it as it...

Max Roach at...

Re: specific bass drum tuning questions.

Good advice, i had a vintage premier 22x18 with an 8 inch hole, pointless. I have recently converted a 16x16 floor tom into a bass drum and put a 4 inch hole, off centre, for a mic and I was worried...

Re: mystery snare drum.

I don't think it is a Ludwig Supraphonic 400, but judging buy the lugs and the mid 60's keystone badge it could be a Ludwig Acrolite, I think they were around in the 60's.

What size is it and have...

Re: Snares on electronic music

For drum n bass, I use a Pearl 14x3.5 free floating piccolo tuned quite high with some dampening. I also use a vintage Premier military Snare 14x10 which has snare wires below the top and bottom...

Re: Snare Tuning Help

I might be stating the obvious but, have you tried dampening? I like the good old fashioned kitchen roll and gaffa/duct tape. That should sort the ringing out.
Another trick I was taught by a...

Re: Ok I'm Back With ANOTHER One Of These Threads...

I've used XS20's and there are ok, but i'd go for AAX or HHX over them, anyday. It depends on the style your playing. Try them, I think you'll notice the difference.
