Re: Where can I get a clamp for Roland SPD-S?

Do you have an extra/unused snare stand? The SPD-S should sit very nicely - and tightly - on that. That's what I've used to integrate my Alesis Sample Pad with my acoustic kit.

Re: Finally!

Beautiful indeed! I'm filled with admiration for everything about what you're doing.

I know that doesn't put any dinero into your pocket, but I'm definitely going to do my bit looking for drummers...

I became a drummer because...drums.

Re: What's your latest purchase?

This piece of junk. It's sold on NewEgg as a tablet clamp/mount that will fit on a microphone stand or cymbal stand so you can see your playlist at the gig and/or connect an e-kit via USB or midi and...

Re: The worst drum /cymbal purchase you ever made

Just sold this SOB on Craigslist. Advertised it pretty much the way I wrote it up here. Got a whole 5 bucks cash for it - and the buyer's promise not to bring it back no matter how much he ends up...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Bought a new Simmons DA200S e-drum amp/monitor on the bay. Standard price of $319. I've been putting together a hybrid kit using a Roland TD-11 brain and mesh pads, and I wanted to the e-drums to be...

Re: The worst drum /cymbal purchase you ever made

I want to thank everyone who's posted on this thread for inspiring me to finally do something about my worst-ever purchase. After reading everyone's stories and writing my own, I decided to adapt...

Re: The worst drum /cymbal purchase you ever made

Worst purchase I ever made was of a Zildjian 15" heavy crash circa 1990 for $125 on eBay about 4 years ago.

What I got was so heavy that it was totally dead. No sound but a clunk. This cymbal...

Never happened to me either - till I read the OP.

Thanks so much!

Re: Does anyone else hate splash cymbals?

I love the idea of splashes and keep buying them, discovering that my style of playing has absolutely no use for them, and selling them again.

For awhile I thought, "Ooh, I can get some nice...

Re: People Who Count Off The Song At A Different Tempo To The Song's Actual Tempo

Actually, I do that - but for writers, via a little website you can access HERE (http://tvwriter.net).

Come and visit, rhumbagirl, any time.

Is it okay to put that link in this forum? Hope so....

Re: People Who Count Off The Song At A Different Tempo To The Song's Actual Tempo

Oh crap. I shouldn't have said anything. This is very, very far from playing with the Doors or Led Zep.

It's embarrassing. The band was a local band in Chicago. The singer got a record deal and...

Re: People Who Count Off The Song At A Different Tempo To The Song's Actual Tempo

Yep, I definitely was noodling on drums. Thought it might get me yelled at, but I was 16 and didn't care. Didn't know it would get me kicked out. That I did care about.

Re: People Who Count Off The Song At A Different Tempo To The Song's Actual Tempo

Ah, sounds familiar, but I don't dare comment on it. My waters are hopelessly poisoned. I'm a guy who was kicked out of band in high school (for noodling) and 2 years later, in college, was in a rock...

Re: People Who Count Off The Song At A Different Tempo To The Song's Actual Tempo

You've got to do whatever makes you feel best about the situation. I wouldn't presume to intrude on your psyche.

But I definitely know what I'd do. Depending on how much tequila I'd imbibed, I'd...

Re: People Who Count Off The Song At A Different Tempo To The Song's Actual Tempo

The free jazz group I play in is all originals that began as noodling and then got titles. When one of us calls out a title everyone knows exactly what it is and we always begin together without even...

Re: People Who Count Off The Song At A Different Tempo To The Song's Actual Tempo

I had a similar experience to rhumbagirl's last weekend. A guitar player and bass player who've played together for years had heard about me somewhere and asked if I'd be interested in joining them...

Re: Weird Question about - Grommets

Quite a challenge, friend. I'll keep you posted on how I'm doing. (Not about to tell anyone that the longest I've kept that going so far is...8 bars.)

Re: Weird Question about - Grommets

Yeah, it was a mindset thing. I was so busy thinking "grommets" that I never searched for "vents." Until, you know, I did.

How's this for a testimonial: "Drummerworld took my brain right out of...

Re: Weird Question about - Grommets

Thanks for the suggestions, everybody. Since I'm a legendary "extreme tightener" in my family, I'm loathe to get into any heavy, um, turning.

But armed with new understanding I did another search...

Weird Question about - Grommets

As in those little metal things that encircle/plug into the airholes of our drums.

Over the past few months, two of the toms on my DW Collectors kit have started making clicking noises when...

Re: Heads for DW Performance rock kit

Coated G2s brought my DW Collectors kit to life. They make it sing. So I'm thinking you couldn't go wrong with them for the Performance series either.

Interesting observation, coming as it does with absolutely no knowledge on your part of whom I hang out with.

OTOH, they are all in showbiz, and we all know what "those people" are like, so you...

Re: Letting others borrow equipment

No friend, not even the closest friend, who's ever borrowed any of my drumming equipment, has returned it. "Can I use this?" is there way of saying, "Can I have this?" and my "Yes" always has seemed...
