Re: Dealing with spine problems - experiences, advice

I've had some really bad neck/shoulder problems.

I've had x-rays, MRIs, seen multiple Doctors.

The only things that worked in the end:
Good healthy eating
Deep tissue massage.

A good...

Re: ALBUMS THAT HAD AN LASTING IMPACT ON YOUR DRUMMING

It's an interesting question, because it means not just top favorite albums, but albums that impacted my drumming.

Queensryche: Operation MindCrime - Scott Rockenfield. To me Scott was the perfect...

Re: The "Jimi Hendrix of drums"

First off, you have to define what is the definition of Hendrix on another instrument.

1) Changed the way people played the instrument
2) Changed the way way people played the instrument in...

Re: what are some great books about drummers you have read.

Mick Fleetwood's Autobiography was good.

The big book about Keith Moon is pretty good.

The Wrecking Crew by Hal Blaine is a must read.

Re: 2015 RRHOF inductees. Congrats Ringo!

RRHOF continues to be a joke. A really bad joke.

Green Day?? Seriously?

Joan Jett is somewhat deserving.

But there are so many more artists had out there who have had a huge impact on...

Re: Studio build help/info

^ This.

And then read it again.

If you don't, you WILL regret not doing so.

Did I mention to buy the book Notbob said to get?

Re: I know - this is a real first world problem.

Pretty simple solution:

Get some lighter fluid, set one kit on fire, then beat it to death it while it's one fire. Pretend you are Jimi Hendrix and Keith Moon at the same time.

Then, we'll...

Re: The "Jimi Hendrix of drums"

Kind of funny, given Atma was fired from Journey just two weeks after he was given the gig. (he was just in the band for two weeks before they have the job to Mike Baird)

Anyhow, to the question,...

Re: Yamaha Recording Custom 14X8 Snare drum

For the 8" deep version, Yamaha didn't use the box lugs.

Yamaha used the same lugs as an 8" tom on the 8" deep snare.

Re: So you're going to a band audition...

^ Yes, yes and yes.

I've gone to auditions too where a member didn't show up or was late, or left early. It's like why should I waste my time joining your band if the band can't get it together? ...

Re: Yamaha Recording Custom 14X8 Snare drum

Nor did they thrill most people.

Even in the 80's when Yamaha RCs' were selling like hotcakes, it was rare anyone bought the matching snare.

Re: Do Youtube Drum Covers Influence What/How You Play?

No.

No doubt there are some good players putting up videos, but there are also tons of bad drummers playing parts are aren't even close to the original part.

And as mentioned, some of these...

Re: Piece by piece more expensive?

Kits in the price points as the ones you mentioned are made in packs, and shipped from over seas in packs, usually with the drums nested inside each other.

A big part of how they keep the prices...

I don't know.

Given Radio Shack is on the verge of going under, I'm not sure it's a good thing to be associated with these days. lol

Re: Is it safe to play songs that require a double kick pedal with just a single pedal?

Indeed.

Re: Yahoo.com 10 legendary rock drummers..

In defense of the author, he clearly says

But where the author proves he hasn't a clue:

Neil has never played Taurus Pedals. Geddy played the Taurus Pedals.
So much fail.

Re: SKF Blog: A Great Drum Photo is Still Worth 1,000 Words
