Re: So you're going to a band audition...

Very good point. Especially true with players that have been around for awhile, all the other band members are being evaluated by the drummer as part of the drummers criteria in auditioning the...

Re: So you're going to a band audition...

What is quoted above is spot on. I'd like to add to that.

I know that times have changed, but I never liked the 'multi-audition' in a single night approach. After your initial interview, ...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

After reading some of the postings here on the value, I am getting a RockNRoller Mid delivered today. I really need to stop reading about stuff here before I go broke. ;-)

Re: Gretsch USA Custom with Aquarian Heads

I'm just wondering if you contacted Aquarian about this issue and what they had to say? They are pretty responsive.

Re: Kinda miss those 80's kits!!

I still have my beloved Sonor Phonics from 1978 in the 'fashionable' Metallic Lilac. 9 Ply beach, 4 concert series shell toms (single head), and as stated, "weighing slightly more than a small...

Re: A Singing Drummer's Mic Set-up

I too use a tripod floor stand with boom, but I set it very high with an 18" gooseneck coming down at the end of the boom. I position it to my rear right and because of the height, it can come down...

Re: Most important lessons for beginners

A lot of good stuff here. What I don't see is one thing I believe to be of very high importance: learning to listen. I've seen guys that can play superb technically, but don't know where to...

Re: Anti-Slip Drumsticks?

i used to use ProMarks that had a texture coating on the grips years ago. They still have a "Pro-Grip" series but im not sure they are the same. I did not notice a change in feel, but if I...

Re: Sonor Safari or Bop

Correct. Seems like Lone Star now has it as well as others. Check Amazon.

Re: Sonor Safari or Bop

Another choice: The Sonor Player 4-Piece Shell Set looks to now be available from some dealers. the 20x12 bass drum makes this really easy to move. The snare is pretty useless but the shell tom...

Re: Putting band name on kick drum head, with multiple bands?

how putting vinyls on old BD heads, cutting the ring off and then attach the logo piece attaching with velcro to the real head. I'm not sure if it will change the tone that much in a live setting,...

Re: gig money for minor

A lot of "IF"s here. I agree with most others, as in a local band he should be paid on par with the other band members after any (band) expenses. I assume he his lugging his own gear and...

good Craviotto deal for someone

I was just at the GC in Sacramento CA and saw a used beautiful Craviotto Maple snare for sale for $850. Fortunately (or unfortunately) my wife was with me else it probably would have come home with...

Re: Shoes and Gloves

yep. what shoes you wear I do not think matters. my suggestion is simply to decide on one type/style/weight and stick with that so your foot is used to it when you play. :-)

Re: Rehersal room kit asteroid attack !

Hmmm, those heads would go well with Sonor's nebula kit. ;-) http://www.musicradar.com/news/drums/namm-2014-the-coolest-kits-snares-and-finishes-at-this-years-namm-592716/8

Re: Shoes and Gloves

I never gave shoes much thought until i got older. I have found they do make a difference when you play, especially if the sole is different. Just experiment with sneakers, hard soles, slippers,...

Re: Ready to buy new kit. Need advice.

The most common size bass drum is 22x16/17/18. That said, a 20" is a lot easier to carry around. :-)

Your experience has no bearing on what you buy in my opinion. Just your talent, budget...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

After debating on this particular cymbal for about a year, I finally pulled the trigger on what should be my last cymbal ever (even though you can never have too many cymbals). ;-) A 22"...

Re: Yet another reason to tear down and load out right after the gig is over...

Agree. I have never left my drums anywhere overnight, expect one time long ago when I was doing a 6 night/week for a one month fill in at a club where I was 100% sure that nothing would be...

It great to see the good and bad here! I just wanted to point out a few things. You don't necessarily contact a customer service department just to complain. You may need parts, help, service,...

Re: Great car for a drummer

define affordable.

my full size sedan would not allow a 26" bass drum (in a case) to fit the door opening. ;-) Sports cars are not a good choice either. :-)

Re: Great car for a drummer

plus it has a built-in cooler, so you really don't need everyone in the group to be blind. :-) :-)
