Re: "Death Metal" sounding bass

man that clicking sound irritates me. Might as well just use a woodblock instead of a drum.

Re: Decent enough in Rock band to be good at drums?

Let me plug my acoustic kit into the game, and put every single note on the score no matter how complex, grade on precision/dynamics, THAT would be awesome. I would also prefer a traditional...

Can I put two soundcards in my pc for recording?

For a second mic input? Not sure if I would need some kind of mixer program to adjust levels independantly.

Portnoy fans may appreciate this, Learning to live transcribed

Well, partially. I thought I was really doing good, then I realized I was only 2 minutes into the song. Hopefully I finish it one of these days, buts its gonna take awhile.

Re: Anyone feel guilty for making 'noise'?

I'm not so much shy about my playing, I've had enough playing in front of people to get over that. I guess maybe I am a little personal about my practice time. If I am working on something I would...

Re: Anyone feel guilty for making 'noise'?

Awesome, it's great to have other's views on this. I think I will talk to the next door neighbors next time I see them (the ones I like, lol!). We actually have our house for sale, I grew up in the...

Anyone feel guilty for making 'noise'?

I know we make music, not noise, but some don't seem to see it that way. I live in a subdivision, houses are fairly close together. Drums are in the walkout basement. The neighbors have never...

Re: Tuning 18" floor tom - Thunder or Thud

I really would like to try the EC2's, but right now money dictated that I give in and try the tape :)

Little square on top, little one on bottom, and that's all it took. Now it still has a nice...

Re: Tuning 18" floor tom - Thunder or Thud

The reso is the factory Mapex single ply. I guess listening to from a distance is a good point, though I don't play for anyone but myself. I don't think my kids care if it has sustain or not lol! ...

Re: Tuning 18" floor tom - Thunder or Thud

I don't know, I guess it just seems like cheating. Plus I don't like the look much (even though I have tape on my snare!). What do you use for a reso head?

Tuning 18" floor tom - Thunder or Thud

I am trying to make this drum fit in to the mix so I use it more. The thing is tuned quite low, and sounds good, but it resonates quite a bit. Generally I like resonant drums, but when I go to this...

Re: Jogging/Marching to improve time.

I remember back when I was into marching band, I got on this kick where I couldn't get out of step, and I couldn't get it out of my head. If I went for a walk (with my walkman, hah), every step was...

Re: Hear me out please.

Every time I turn my hobby into a job I get burnt out fast. I used to work at an auto body shop, now I hate working on cars. At my first engineering job I got really into CNC programming,...

Re: Regrets about your first drumset

Exactly! Technically my first set was my dad's Premiers. I played them till I was around 23, and moved away from home. So I had nothing to start with, and with a family starting had no money. ...

Re: Drum wrap alternatives?

I just did a vinyl graphics rewrap. The results are less than stellar. Problem is if their are any flaws in your original wrap, they are magnified. I imagine if I had used a really shiny kind it...

Added a timbale (sort of) to my kit

I'm not sure if it technically fits the definition of a timbale, but I took the bottom head off my old 12" tom and cranked the top up to where it sounds like a timbale.
Haven't had much time to...

Re: St Anger snare drum...

As a drummer, I don't think much of Lars. As a person, I think less of him. But I do respect him for trying to bring something different to the table. I like St. Anger in general for that reason....

Re: three of a perfect pair

It sounds like the beginning is 6/8, then the chorus is a measure of 6/8 and a measure of 8/8 repeating (or it could just be 14/8). then back to 6/8

Re: three of a perfect pair

Love that song btw.
Anyone happen to remember the video for man with an open heart? It's one that has stuck in my head since childhood, but I haven't been able to find it.

Re: Double Bass beater issue

My DW7000's are the same way, though I try to fudge it to the right as much as possible. I had the same problems. It was much more noticeable on my last set (22" bass), my current set is a 24"...

Re: Took my drums for a walk - Yamaha beech with zildjian plates

Here are a couple pics from the guy I bought it from. They don't show the grain or color very well though. It really is a good looking color, I wish it matched my set better!
I think I'm starting...
