Re: Base Drum volume. HELP Please talk me down off this ledge.

This idea is ridiculous, but the end result might be be ridiculously amazing....I say doooo eeeeet!

But what about the rest of the drums? Would they be acoustic or triggered using the drum module?

Re: Deep bass drums

I don't care for the feel of the batter on an 18" depth compared with thinner depths. I recently sold my Gretsch New Classics with a 22x18 BD and picked up an older Gretsch USA set with a 22X14. ...

Re: Nicko mcbrain

I’ve seen Maiden a couple of times live and was blown away both times by Nicko’s playing. His playing sometimes feels frantic and like he’s going to derail but he doesn’t. He sounds and looks...

Re: Considering my ďretirementĒ kit

Oh yeah...thatís a beautiful set! Iíd have chosen the Ludwig too because thereís something to the slightly unruly sound vs the more refined sound of DWs. To me that makes em special.

Canít wait...

Re: Freight carriers....?

Maybe the boxes will catch up to one another and arrive at the same time? I've had that happen before...one made a detour and they got it back on track to meet the delivery deadline.

BTW, what...

Re: New Drums from Mapex

I saw a teaser pic from mapex a while back and it looked like the shells were stacked rings of alternating woods.

Re: Gretsch USA Custom 14x6.5 Cast Aluminum

I think Mike Miley ordered his that way. I saw a video where he mentioned its slightly different from the stock version...I'm pretty sure it was the hoops he was referring to.

I have a cast brass...

Re: Is made in the US really that much better?

I'm a guy who likes to put a face to things...regardless of where they're made. I watched a video a while back on the production of the Tama Star line which renewed my appreciation for Tama. I...

Re: A New Journey

Rest In Peace Mitch

I never met the man, but enjoyed his company here within the forums and I believe we crossed paths as members of various facebook drum groups.

Godspeed my friend

Re: Are DW drums still cool?

I think the "tubby" sound so many attribute to DW is due to the stock heads and DW's tuning preferences for their videos and demos. I've tried out a handful of DW sets over the years and they...

Re: Important announcement - Guru Drums

Sad, but completely understandable. You only get so much time...family and personal health are priority.

Now, Iím considering taking the plunge and buying one of your snares while I can.
We can...

Some Gretsch Glitter

I bought a set of refurbished stop sign badge drums from Steve Maxwells. Drop G toms and SSB kick in Green glass glitter! They look and sound amazing.

Re: Struggling with Renowns

The new classics have die cast hoops and I have no problem getting them to go low as I like, but the low tuning drops off quickly to a thud. Mine work best in mid to mid low tuning and high tuning on...

Re: New Drums Weekend!

I didnít realize pearl fitted the MCX line with die cast hoops. I had a set of BLK back in the 90ís and they were awesome sounding and looking drums.

Re: New Gretsch USA Bell Brass Snare

Re: Mid range kits

Those sound like the Renown 57 drums. Those triangles are actually stuck on and can be easily peeled off withought harming the lacquer. You just have to be a little patient. They look amazing...

Re: DW owners-do you tune to the "stamped" note?

I recently took the hardware off of two Gretsch toms (super heavy hardware, btw) to prep them for re wrapping and tapped the shells. I did get a tone out of them. With the hardware on, I heard a...
