Re: Those of you who have "sound proofed" a room for your drums...

I just ordered this book. It looked pretty cool. I will be looking to do something similar sometime in the near future. I am looking to buy my first house. I am trying to find something with a...

Re: Drum Kit Suggestion

You either need another bass drum, or at least a double pedal. There's just not enough double bass patterns in Jazz these days. That will get people's attention. If I went into a jazz club, and...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Congrats, and good luck with that big hardware case. When my medium SKB hardware case is full, it is almost too much for me to horse into a vehicle, and usually smarter as a two-man lift. I can't...

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

Awesome pic man! The feeling of new heads on big drums is a thing to behold.

Re: Trusting others with your kit?

Even better! Although not a sworn officer, I work in law enforcement. It can be sad, but nice to know when someone is lying to you. It just hurts a bit more if you know the person. It's not as if...

Re: Trusting others with your kit?

Wow! That's horrible. I would have made a total scene. I might have had an officer there too! I might have waited till they started a song then, politely, and forcefully liberated the snare from...

Re: hi hat dis-assembly

I break my DW9000 down so that I can put it in my SKB Medium hardware case. I take the hats off, put the clutch and large T-handled drum key in my stick bag. I pull the top tube, unscrew the rod,...

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

SWEET! Glad you got what you wanted. They look great and I imagine they will sound awesome. Love it. 20" floor tom is full Gonzo too! Like the saying goes, anything worth doing is worth OVER...

Re: Recurring dream - drum related

The bands in my dreams change, but the theme is the same. I find myself on stage, sometimes with random bands like Mettalica, Dave Mathews Band, or even my band. The band will begin the song, I...

Re: 99 ludwig 9 plys

WOW, those look great! I love the sizes too! Why can't I walk into a music store and see stuff like this?

Re: Why is it you never see threads saying....

That, AND... I just don't think of cymbals belonging in "sets". To me, sets are just some cymbals in a box. I look at my cymbal choices and think, who would put all these in a box? I could maybe...

Re: Help me look....cooler? more relaxed?

As I read the firs few responses I was thinking the same thing.

If you don't have a cape, try to relax. Adopt the mindset that this gig is no big deal and you got something else going on later...

Re: Opinions on what to do with these old ludwig Classic Maples?

OK, it looks like the bass drum was $900 even, purchased new. So this gives you an idea I suppose.

Re: Opinions on what to do with these old ludwig Classic Maples?

I would do one of a few things. Check with some reputable online retailers like Greenbrier music, or Memphis Drum Shop to get an idea on ballpark price. I want to say you are looking at around $950...

Re: Transportation Issues and Concerns

Depending on where you live you might have a couple options. As mentioned, some areas have vehicles you can rent short-term. Then just pay as you go.

Or, and no one likes hearing the deferred...

Re: Opinions on what to do with these old ludwig Classic Maples?

I would get my favorite of the three finishes on a new, or found bass drum. I would roll like that for a while, and if I severe felt like a rewrap, I would be good to go.

As for bass drum sizes,...

Re: Trade Scenario

Sounds like a plan brother. And then you can keep an eye out for a good deal in a DW if you like it.

Re: Trade Scenario

Have you had a chance to play the DW? That would be the driving factor. If you're thinking resale, nothing will keep value like a Ludwig BB. I am not fond of the knurled DW finish, but, that is...

Yeah, I noticed that too. I kind of just chalked it up to possible re-sizing of the photo sort of thing. But who knows..

Re: Real Ludwigs?

Classic Mini Lugs and Spurs from the look of it.

I saw that kit on the bay too. Great looking kit. That kit begs for a 14" rack tom though. lol. Looks like a good deal on some big drums. I...

Re: Do we really need expensive drums?

Need? Not really.

I am somewhere in between I suppose. And even that, is subjective. What is a good chunk of money for me might be fairly little to someone else. And all the things that I have...

Re: New Ludwig Classic Maple Badges

I have them on my LCMs. They are a beefier keystone type badge made from melted down brass instruments. And, as it has been mentioned, they have the serial number with the bar-codes on the inside...

Re: Ludwig Tom Mounts

I went with the Keystone mounts on my floor tom. They appear more solidthan the classic style lug from an engineering point of view, but don't add as much total diameter to the drum's size. The...

Re: When Your Band Won't Gig

Life is far too short to spend time doing things that don't make you happy. When I started playing again a while back, after having to pack away drums due to living in an apartment, I wanted to play...
