If you have the $, both the Live Custom and Oaks are great kits. That being said, I've owned 2 stage customs and they are very quality kits. Yamaha makes great drums period.

I don't think much about it. I've got 3 sets and they are all the same sizes and set up; just different brands. For simplicity one stays home, one at our rehearsal space and one stays in the cases...

Mark the problem area with a small dot with a sharpie then loosen the head and rotate it 90 degrees. If the same problem occurs on a different lug then its safe to assume the head is the problem.
