Re: About to buy a Gretsch Catalina Club kit...

It is ok, I know some of my handicaps. spelling is one of them. Really, I knew it was wrong, but couldn't get to another web site to check the spelling.

Re: About to buy a Gretsch Catalina Club kit...

I bought one about 7 years ago now.

I am currently using Aquarian deep vintage for the batter on the toms. I do not use the snare often, instead I am using either a Gretsch copper, or a 5" Rogers...

Re: Drumming & Singing Simultaneously

I'm new to singing and playing. I am finding the songs that are in keys outside my comfort zone are the real problems. We did a gig two weeks ago, in rehearsal, we found that if the guitarist just...

Re: Has anyone started playing out after turning 50 years old?

I started playing again in 2008 after a long absence from playing. I do recommend that what ever kit your going to play, make it as lightweight and small as possible. I am currently in my 60's and...

Re: Singing and playing?

Last night had practice with the band and I sung using the shure beta 56A (not the beta 56, do not know the difference). Yeah, big difference and improvement, from the headset mic (thanks Bo). The...

Re: Why Do Most Compact Kits Have 14" Snares?

For a low volume gig I am doing the LP octo snare cajone, and a bass pedal on a floor standing cajone. So far when I use this kit it is only bass, snare, hi-hat and cymbal.

Re: Why Do Most Compact Kits Have 14" Snares?

I would really like to reduce the amount and volume of the stuff I have to take with me.

But, can someone please recommend a small snare that actually sounds good.

They all seem to sound...

Re: Singing and playing?

m[quote=8Mile;1559638]A trio I play with has been really pushing me to sing more. I used to do just a couple novelty songs, but I'm doing a couple more lead vocals now and joining on harmony...

Re: Singing and playing?

Took Bo's advice and ordered a stronger mic stand and a shure beta 56. I am looking forward to not looking like a crazed one man band person when singing, drumming and harping. Is "harping" a real...

Re: Singing and playing?

I've been using the headset. I did experiment a little using a mic stand where I had this boom attachment that holds the harp. But, I found that the stand I have shakes so much I cannot find the...

Re: Singing and playing?

Over the years I have sung a few songs here and there.

Since August I have not had to travel up and down the East coast anymore and am able to do a band project at home. So, since September last...

Re: Your plans for 2018 with drums?

I am now working at home full time, and able to make my own schedule. I have others come over to my home to practice and I can work around others schedule easily.

I bought a Mixer (Yamaha MG16XU)...

Re: Adjusting to bigger kick size, raising height

Provided you do not need to use both feet on the bass drum, use a double pedal, slide the bass drum over to the right, and use the left pedal for your right foot. Of course there are problems to...

I would really like to go to a music store and check out a brand new dynasonic. I saw two different colors available, white pearl, and silver sparkle. I also saw it available in two sizes 5 and 6.5...

Re: Rogers drums back under Dixon.

That web site said the frame cost was $59.00, which is much cheaper than I paid for used frames from ebay. I have not tried those dyna-sonic frames, but I would say it was well worth the risk if you...

Re: Rogers drums back under Dixon.

Does anyone have a review of these new Dyna-sonic snare drums? The price is much cheaper than the used prices for the original drums from the 60's.

I have two metal dynasonics (5 and 6.5 inch...

Re: World's first seamless spun aluminum drum sets

Do you have to stress relieve the shells after you spin them? It seems that the top, or bottom of a shell would have more stress in the shell because one side was stretched more than the other side....

Re: Mounting Bass Drums Horiztonally, like a timpani?

When I was a kid, I used to take my 22" and my 20" bass drums and play from the Saul Goodman timpani book. I just put the two bass drums on top of a sofa bed. It was a muted sound, but it was just...
