I have found that warming up with slightly heavier (not larger) sticks can sometimes be beneficial. I used to warm up with some metal 5a sticks, then switch to the regular Vic Firth 5a's.

Similar to what I do, except I found it a lot easier to use Sony Vegas (I have 7, but I believe 8 is out). . .

Basically anything that will allow to mute the camera's mic, and insert your own...
