Re: Used Premier XPK Kit

The set comes with spurs and tom holders and there appear to be no noticeable blemishes, scratches or other wear marks. Seems to me the seller may be low balling the asking price but kudos for me if...

Used Premier XPK Kit

I recently ran across on the web a six piece XPK kit with two bass drums. The finish is beautiful and the seller is asking almost 600.00 for it. Any thoughts/insights??

Re: Trimmed down kits

I am a big fan of AXES tv and virtually every gig they air has the drummer playing one up and one/two down. The rare exception is two up and one/two down. Haven't seen a double bass kit except for...

Re: Trimmed down kits

I just saw Jane's Addiction and the drummer had one up one down with hats, a ride and one crash. He smoked that kit like I haven't seen since I first saw Gergo Borlai make sounds from a four piece...

Trimmed down kits

I've been seeing more and more drummers even of the heave rock genre playing one up and one or two tom down kits. It's refreshing for aspiring drummers that they don't need to buy the monster size...

Roger Taylor

I watched an old Queen concert from 1981 and I was frankly amazed at how technically adept Taylor was as a drummer. I guess Queens' music didn't lend itself to flashy fills but I bet Taylor could...

Putting together my kit one drum at a time

After reading hundreds of reviews on the pros and cons of this kit or that I'm thinking of buying one drum that I've tested at a time. So far I LIKE the Yamaha Custom shells. They really roar. ...

I just checked GC and they list a 14 x 6 snare for under 800. Any thoughts?

Gretsch Maple 4 piece question

MF has a 4 piece Gretsch Catalina Maple shell pack for under 800. The itemized listing of components doesn't include a snare. The list includes and only includes a 22 inch kick, a 10 inch rack and...

Re: Yamaha Rock Tour series discontinued... ):

MF has several color options the difference between them being the price. I'm gonna pull the trigger on the red sparkle that's listed for 399.00. The Muhashi Oak snares are now hard to find but I...

My humble take on good drummers and OK drummers

So many drummers who've enjoyed some success seem to rely on a whole lot of flash and little substance. I don't give a hoot if someone can play a million miles an hour with a 20 piece set. I would...

Re: Mapex @ NAMM 2014

I'm sure bearing edges and patent applications are fun to talk about but I'm interested if anyone has played the Mars series and how they sound. Please respond.

Re: Toms Mounted on Cymbal Stands

From the threads I've read I am now leaning toward placing the 14 inch rack tom on a snare stand and I would love to hear from players who do place their rack toms on a separate snare stand. This...

Re: Toms Mounted on Cymbal Stands

I'm concerned that with a 14 by 10 inch rack tom that Ludwig's tom holder is only workable with smaller shells. With the Centennial line I' ve seen more pics with the rack tom placed on a snare...

Re: Ludwig Centennial Zep kit information

This is a totally rookie question but with an undrilled kick drum how does one work the rack tom? Would it be a clamp/cymbal stand combo or a conventional snare stand, or both? Please help.
