Re: A rear line day - mini report.

---------------------------------------------------------
Yes, I'd definitely say it's a "wooden block", but it looks like a large flattened cowbell with slits in the sides(?). I've never seen any...

Re: A rear line day - mini report.

Re: Using Left Foot Hi-Hat, Does It Help Improve Time?

+ (whatever number we're up to on Bermuda).
"and I'm told my meter is unbelievable. At least I think that's a compliment!" HA!

I'm not sure that I consciously lock into my left foot as a...

Re: Thanks ... I think

Not me, but our guitarist. A guy came up to him and said, "Man, you're amazing! You look like you have arthritis when you're playing!"

Re: Dillemma...what to let go of, what to keep

Simple answer ... keep everything! The last thing you want is seller's remorse.

Re: How long does your snare cord last?

I had a supra back in the early 80's, and I was going through cord like crazy. I took the drum to my local shop, and the drum tech there discovered a burr in the hoop cutout.

Re: posture

I noticed a huge difference in my posture after I installed a backrest on my throne. I don't lean back against it, but I sit/lean back just enough for my lower back to touch it ... to know it's...

Re: Does anyone actually like big finales?

Don't like playing them, don't like seeing them, don't like hearing them. Other than that, they're fine.

Re: What people will pay

Larry,

I was in your exact same situation. I had my white onyx 5-piece for about 5 years, and was ready to add the 16" floor tom. It took about 2 years to find it, scouring CL, ebay, checking...

Re: Favorite Song to Rock out To?

Right now, it's Dishwalla "Counting Blue Cars." Just something about playing that song that makes me wanna pound the crap outta them (well, you know, the chorus)

Re: Acoustic Gig

I think it depends on several factors. What gear do you have available? What are you comfortable playing? What is the size/type of the venue? What are your bandmates looking for?

I've gone in...

Re: Negotiating more money for a gig.

I can see where the times and an early flight, etc could be a problem for the guitarist, but turning down a paying gig for band practice is beyond absurd IMO.

Re: Selling my Yamaha Beech Customs. What should I ask? (pics)

Aside from lacking the money ... and the space ... and the distance between us, I'd grab them up in a heartbeat! I've wanted beech customs for years now, and I love that color. Isn't it called...

Re: Legs always feel sore

I didn't go back and read your original post (that you didn't post), but where are you sore, and what kind of pain? Dull? Sharp? Shooting?

Re: Not sure if this has been brought up before...

Wow. I've had mine for about 12 years now, and I gig almost every weekend. I've never noticed an "aroma" but maybe it's time I check it out ......

Sounds like your ducks are pretty well aligned. You sure we can't help you with anything? Which area rug, cymbal felts, stick holder? Anything???

Re: Elvin Jones Documentary

That's one thing that I don't get. Drummers (and sales ads) are always referring to adding "colors" and "textures". No, they're sounds. Drums and cymbals (and percussion accessories) produce...

Re: Stupid Newbie Tricks

I think my only blunder was one time at a gig, I "thought" I clamped my pedal to the bass drum, but about half-way through the first song, I realised I completeIy missed the hoop and the clamp was...

You might already know this stuff, and I didn't see anyone touch on it here, but .... once you're on the gig:
- sit down with the guys before each set and go over any questionables for that set.
-...

I put a backrest on my Roc N Soc. I relax AND sit straight. I couldn't believe the difference it made!

Re: First Audition

A couple of things that I always keep in mind....
1) Take the music seriously, but treat the audition like a "jam" - you're going there to hang out, play some music, and have some fun.
2) ...

Re: Rock Gigs Not Very Rock Anymore?

I guess it depends on the definition of "gig" and/or "show". I haven't been to a concert (where the sole purpose is to see/hear the band) in quite awhile. Most of the gigs that I attend or play...
