Re: Playing Someone Else's Kit

The band that we opened for was an 80's hair metal cover band. There seem to be a few of these popping up here in Southern New England. I guess the 40-50 year olds are reliving their youth.
Anyway-...

Re: Playing Someone Else's Kit

I did bring my hat stand, seat, snare, and cymbals, as well as my pedal.
I ended up using my seat and bass pedal.
Cymbal adjustability was limited by the mike placement on the toms. I guess some...

Re: Playing Someone Else's Kit

here is a sample of the gig. The tom angle actually looks reasonable from here, but on my set up you cannot see the bottom heads. I think you can kind of see that I am reaching for the cymbals,...

Re: Playing Someone Else's Kit

I did the gig last night. it went off well-even though it was a fish-out-of-water gig in that we were opening for an 80's hair metal band. We managed to get some of the leather clad peroxide-blondes...

Re: Bizare Ludwig Shell, help!

I have a set of early 90's Ludwigs that I bought new at a small music store. They were special ordered and the customer could not pay for them after they came in. I was told they were Super Classics....

Re: Playing Someone Else's Kit

Larry, I already suggested that, but the club is sticking to the "one drum set" rule.

I have the other guys ph # and will call him to see what's what.
Yes the triangle of bass pedal, snare, and...

Re: Loud drums

all the Ludwig dealers around here have told me that the keystone drums are louder than the classic maple and legacy shells. I have not played them, but that seems to be the 'marketing" line for the...

Re: Ludwig Club Date NOT discontinued

Drum devil,

What did you find to be a good sounding head on the club dates?

Have you tried different types- single vs two ply etc?

Any experience would be appreciated.

Double bass CD...

Re: Ludwig Club Date NOT discontinued

I visited my local drum shop here in RI yesterday to see if my WMP downbeat had come in. Anthony (owner) said when he ordered them last week, the Ludwig inventory on all the Club Dates was in the...

Re: Ludwig Club Date NOT discontinued

I ordered a downbeat in WMP last week. Should be in soon.

Anyone who owns the "new" clubdates- what heads have you found to sound good on this set?
I usually go with a 2-ply Aquarian response 2...

Re: The worst gig of my life

Wow, reading all the posts it is clear a nerve was struck.

I would always rather use my kit. I play in a cover band, so we don't do as many multi-band gigs as the original music bands....

Re: club date se

My local drum shop here in RI told me that the club dates were not on the price list anymore.
I ordered the 6.5 snare in WMP and I love it- separate thread on that-

I bit the bullet and ordered a...

Re: Over exuberance - a time & a place?

I almost always do a hand cross-over bass drum triplet roll around the kit ending to "Born to be Wild". We usually do that song to end the night, so I have nothing to lose at that point...

It...

Re: Ludwig Classic Maple Snare - New or Used

Kamak,

Mine is a 10 lug- some consider this a higher end feature. My experience wit this snare is that it makes tuning a bit more of a pain because you have two more lugs to tap and get evenly...

Re: Ludwig Classic Maple Snare - New or Used

I listened to the sound files. it seems mine does have a bit more "ring" to it, although it appears to be the same drum in a different color.

I have a Ludwig head that I might try this weekend.

Re: Ludwig Classic Maple Snare - New or Used

Kamak,
Nice buy!
I recently picked one up just like that but mahogany stain.
I had a bit of an issue trying to tame the overtone- at medium tuning the drum has a weird overtone that can be heard...

Re: Ludwig Acrolite Fan Post

Based on reviews here, I was on the lookout for an Acrolite as a back up snare.

Re: New from NAMM

IMHO, Keystones and Signets are USA Luddies for the working musician.
Classic Maple is a step up in the availability of configurations. Legacy Classic is a take on the vintage shell formula and...

Re: Ludwig's new Signet 105 drum line!

Local GC had one in blue- Afaik they never set it up.
didn't see it there last time so maybe...
