I have heard rumors about this but recently did a little research myself. Steve Hass teaches regularly in Los Angeles and on tour.

Re: Steve Hass

If anyone is in the Los Angeles area, I just spotted this doing a drum search in NY, LA and Nasshville on craigslist. I'm looking for old Constantinople K's, and came across this teaching ad for...

Re: Underrated Drummers

I don't think people are understanding the topic. Ralph Humphrey is a huge name in drumming. He's not underrated. I think it's also the individual's perspective. Like in the Steve Hass post there are...

Re: Underrated Drummers

I agree with JazzRock. There are no under rated musicians. I don't see any contradictions in posts actually. Opinions are like a**holes everyone has one. But what JazzRock is saying is fact. Drum...

Re: Steve Hass

I read on Hass' facebook that he's in the studio with Alan Pasqua, Darek Oles and Bob Mintzer, not sure for what though. Whatever the project, that will be some burning music.

Re: Steve Hass

Anyone hear anything about a jazz cruise where Hass is playing with Manhattan Transfer founding member Janis Siegel in January? Sounds a good chance to combine great music with a nice vaca.

Yea April I don't know about Hass meaning peace in Hebrew, but I also don't get the surprise in Matthias. It's a really common...

Re: 11-Year-Old Budapest Jazz Drumming Phenom?

this is great, because you can tell he knows the song and is not just playing a beat. He's listening, and playing music. I can't wait to hear him at 35!

Re: Steve Hass

thanks, I'd say your review was my experience too. Manhatan Transfer always seems to get killer players. I saw Cliff Almond and Tom Brechtlein were doing the gig sometimes. Hass does an amazing job,...

Re: Vinnie Colaiuta

I agree with some and disagree with some SM.
Thaard that's incorrect. Moeller is a single-multiple stroke technique. Whether it's a single stroke, double, triple, or even 4 notes in a row per hand....

Re: Vinnie Colaiuta

I agree with April on this. Matthias, you're automatically out of the game when you say properly.I musically disagree with everything you wrote back to April. I bet Vinnie would too.

There is no...

Re: Phil Maturano here!

Oh I was replying to both you and delta drummer. On the pop gigs I said that the salaries reflect where the artist is in their career. A new artist like LGaga cannot afford to pay out what an artist...

Re: Efrain Toro

Drummers in ensembles need to play for the ensemble. Efrain plays for himself. There is a fine balance there with drummers who carefully play creatively within the music. There's only a handful of...

Re: Phil Maturano here!

On the Lady Gaga gig. I can't say I agree. She may be a singer/songwriter turned entertainment spectacle for the worse, but the band I heard on the Grammy's sounded darn good. Rhythm section wise,...

Re: Efrain Toro

He is truly amazing at what HE does. Too bad what he does is not functional in the realm of ensemble playing.

He will never be mentioned in the same breath as the other drummers, because he has a...

Re: Brian Blade

Brian Blade to me is one of the greatest players of our time. So musical. His dynamics and ideas are incredible. The best example was the chick corea/john mclaughlin tour. I was the band with Vinnie...

Hi Phil! I think about it too. Being in my 40s, we did not have such access to people. I was just mentioning in the Steve Hass thread, that there's not enough online info on the guy.

Question. I...

Re: Steve Hass

that sucks. I really thought it was his best band simply because John Scofield is a jazz/rock musician, and seeing him in one setting you're only getting a certain view of his ability. With the Ray...
