Re: Drinking and Drumming

Hell no!! I'd never drink before posting. It might have an adverse effect on my word play. Leaving me so utterly incoherent that I'm no longer able to discern the difference between moderation and...

Re: Major Personal Milestone Achieved

Glad to hear you've finally popped your cherry mate. Raising a glass to you on this momentous occasion........and after I've had that glass I'm going to go and play my drums to see if the combination...

Re: Drinking and Drumming

Ah, the annual Temperance Movement thread. Was just thinking it was overdue this year.

Yes, it's been well established that one or two quiet beers gets the vast amount of DW drummers so...

Re: 5.5x14 Black Beauty?

Bingo. It's common to see 5.5" listed and it's almost always an incorrect measurement.

Ludwig USA don't make a 5.5" shell. Only shells outsourced from Asia (eg Supralites etc) offer that depth....

Re: What's your favorite drumset category? Drums, cymbals or hardware

Defintely drums. The sound of a drum was what lured me to pick up sticks in the first place.

Whilst I love the variety of cymbals I've collected over the years, I could never say that cymbal...

Re: Advice on setting up 'Bonzo Bash' style event in UK

You don't think that someone would help you if they thought they could offer any insight?

Come on mate. It's not like you're being blatantly ignored here is it. It's a pretty unique request that...

Re: If you had to choose....

Kill Vinnie.

And as I'm totally convinced there is nothing he can't do, bringing himself back from the dead will be easier than half the time signatures he can play in.

And still...

Re: What is your drum setup pet peeve?

Not at all.

But given it was little more than an obvious gentle ribbing, it's pretty clear that I've hurt yours.

Re: Should I Do It?

Glory days are well behind me now old mate. Anything of note......including any interest from women of college age......is pretty much reserved to the realm of past tense, I'm afraid.

Re: Should I Do It?

You'd be asking the wrong person mate. I used excuses a hell of a lot more lame than a gig in order to get out of studying in my day. A gig at a party, with the chance of cute, available chicks and a...

Re: Bid like a man!

But you didn't have "the highest bid" at all. The highest bid is determined at the end of the auction. If you really were the highest bid, you'd have won......it's that simple.

An open outcry...

Re: Bid like a man!

Couldn't agree more.

Last minute stealth is the only way I bid on eBay auctions. Why the hell would I show you my hand early? I always giggle at people who bid with a week left to run and then get...

Re: Purpose of singing during new breed

It adds another level of independence......amongst other things.

If you read through the first section of the book called Concepts: Part 1, there is a heading called The Importance of Singing....

Re: Matched Grip vs. Traditional Grip: Pro's and Con's?

There should be no reason why drummers can't talk about the relative merits and limitations of anything at all without getting tribal about it, G. I guess this place stands as good an example as any,...

Re: Ever seen Stainless steel Supraphonics?

This is the first time I think I've ever seen this one confirmed direct from the source themselves.

The elusive steel shell Supra has been discussed at length. There's always plenty of Tom's,...

Re: Bitter Ginger Baker slating Zeppelin and Bonham - again

Nor would I expect one. No apology is ever necessary on matters of taste. Such arguments are little more than an exercise in futility and I'm not trying to sway your opinion one way or another in any...

Re: Bitter Ginger Baker slating Zeppelin and Bonham - again

It's nothing of the sort. He's being judged by his own words.....of which there have been many over the decades.

As you rightly point out, Ginger is entitled to whatever opinion he chooses to...
