Re: Maybe I'm done compensating for my height ;)

There has to be a million used. 20,10,14 DW Collector kits out there in SoCal eh? You ain't gonna like that 20 for rock tho. Get a 22x14, 12x8, 16x14. Anything smaller is hipster/jazz cruft. ;) (runs...

Re: Are DW drums still cool?

Yeah, there's some real "fanboys" in here who's only opinion that counts is theirs. Part of the landscape I'm afraid. The whole DW disrespect game is rather ironic in that I think the Forum big...

Re: I can't buy a high end snare drum

Totally agree. The notion that some of the more expensive snares aren't worth the money is silly. Notice I said "some".

Re: Happy 110th Gene!

Buddy is the cranked snare master and very staccato playing style. Gene utilized more of the whole kit and was the low tuner of the time.

Re: Happy 110th Gene!

To me Gene Krupa was really the first "rock" drummer. Here's a link to the Burnin' Beat LP with Gene and Buddy.

This is from 1962. You can tell they had a genuine mutual respect for each other.

Re: Kick Snare & Hat

What he said ^^^ !! I'm a hard rock player. Toms are so much a part of how I play. Let's hear somebody play this without toms ! Stay with it as there's some great chops by Jim Gordon at the end when...

Re: How many have matching snare finish & brand with rest of kit?

Doesn't matter if snare matches or not. A non-matching tom or kick? That's a SERIOUS NO-NO for me.

Re: Anybody live near Bridgeton, Missouri ?

Well I've had two of our guys here look at them in person with MrTheOne giving me a 9.5 out of 10 rating on them and sending me 16 pictures so I'm optimistic. I'd rather eat $118 s/h than 2 grand on...

Re: Anybody live near Bridgeton, Missouri ?

That would be wonderful! I'm looking for pics of any blemishes. Back of toms facing drummer, underside of bass drum, pedal rash, bass drum hoops etc etc. You know what to look for. I'm hoping it was...

Go for it. You can't go wrong with maple. Tama hardware is some of the best and their finishes are something to behold.

Anybody live near Bridgeton, Missouri ?

There's a Gretsch USA Custom kit at the Bridgeton, Missouri Guitar Center for sale as a used item for a pretty decent price. It would be great if someone lived closed enough to put some eyes on it...

Re: Notable and New at NAMM

There's only one place to find "that Great Gretsch sound" and it's not at a Pearl dealer. hehe
