Re: custom stave snare finally done

Beautiful drum and a very nice job-----------but please get those ugly PDP lugs off of it and replace it with something that suits the quality drum better.

Great job !!!!! I love the fact that you were not in a big hurry and you took your time and planned things out. I wish I had that kind of patience. John

Re: Dry heads for ludwig blackrolite acrolite snare?

My all time favorite head on my supra has been the Evans EC Reverse dot. not too dry but with just enough overtones for depth. As a matter of fact I have used this on just about every snare that I...

Re: Older PDP FS Hardware Q's

To me that mount looks more like Yamaha than a Pearl. If the rod is octagon shaped then I bet you could find used Yamaha parts to fix what you need for the tom mount. You should be able to find the...

A tip for guys with wraps

A friend and I were talking about detailing cars. I mentioned that I would like to find a good dressing for my convertable top. He turned me on to a product called 303. I bought a bottle and this...

It looks like you have done a pretty decent job. Glad to see that you had the guts to try to do it yourself. Hope you are satisified with the outcome. Good luck. John

Re: Multiple Kit Owners, Show Your Favorite Kit

As of now I have a 1963/64 Ludwig kit and a new Taye kit. I really thought that the Ludwig kit would be my last kit but you all know how that goes. The Ludwigs are 13, 16, 22. I bought the Taye in...

Re: First time buyer advice

Sorry Larry, but I have to agree with MatrixClaw. I have sold many drum kits and I have bought several used kits, there is no way that I'm going to sit and watch someone take my drum kit apart. I...

Re: Which wrap for my new Ludwig Classic Maple?

WMP has been a long time favorite of mine. Not only do I have a vintage Ludwig WMP, but I also have a Taye orange glitter kit. I think you will be happy with any of your choices.

Re: Sorry I ever got rid of those.

Andy, I can appreciate what you posted. That kit was something special and I'm sure that it warms your heart to see it go to a good home. You make kits to sell and I'm sure that it's like giving a...

Re: Sorry I ever got rid of those.

Bo, thank goodness you feel that way because you have been through as many kits as I have. If you would ever have any regrets I'm sure that it would be devastating. ha ha

Sorry I ever got rid of those.

I just happened to mention on another thread about a set of PDP CX's that I had and got rid of. Then I got to thinking about how many times I've read that some comment on so many other threads about...

Re: What people will pay

Good for you Larry. I don't think you will have any problems with either rewrapping it or the sound. That was by far your best option. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out. By the way I spoke from...

Re: What people will pay

Larry, I'll bet if you look at some of the drum builder supply shops you can find a wrap very close to what you have on your set. Then just pick up a 16 floor tom and recover it. John

Re: Played my first Gig last night.

Have you thought about trying a cajon ? I think they are a tad more versatile than a djembe. Or you could use both. By the way, your hands will toughen up. Keep practicing a little every day. Good...

Re: Acoustic cajon vs cajon with pickup aka electric cajon

When I bought my cajon I purchased a Myers pickup for it. You can mount it with the suction cup supplied or the two sided tape or use screws "included". The pickup is much easier than using a mic....

Re: A little Gretsch drum trivia.

It is so sad the condition that these drums are in, but it is what it is. The drums sound absolutely like crap from the drivers seat but the guys running sound can do magic, I got to hear other bands...
