Re: Why the "hate" for nylon tips??

I will admit that all my bad nylon tip experiences were decades ago. The tips wouldn't make it through a single night. I hadn't bought a pair since the 80s,until a few months ago. The local drum...

Re: Ludwig floor tom leg placement?

Hmmmmm Both my current kits are Ludwig Classic Maples. So,all my floor tom legs are like that. Actually, I think all the floor toms that I have ever owned were like that.

Re: Tricks for faster set up

My rack is currently on a snare stand. I am thinking about going back to a rims mount from a cymbal stand. one less thing to bother with.

Re: "Recording Heavy Drums" tutorial by Glenn Fricker

Most of the powerful rock/metal drummers that I know sit low. The extremely fast death metal guys sit higher.

Re: I can't believe I did this...

Thanks!!!

It seems thicker than another Starclassic Brass that I have played. I just realized that it looks almost identical to the John Tempesta Signature model but without the Black Nickel....

I can't believe I did this...

Played this snare in the store, last week. I liked it so much,I just went back and put it on layaway. It really isn't in the budget but I couldn't help myself.

It's super meaty with tons of crack....

Re: Blurred lines ripped off the "feel"

Terrible...terrible decision. Words and melody are covered by the copyright. It isn't even close. I hope they can appeal.

Re: Hi Hat Foot Beats on 2 & 4

2 and 4,straight quarters,or nothing. I don't even think about it.I play in an extremely loud rock/metal band. No one hears it but me. :)

Re: Well, I did it. (incoming NKD)

Karl Crafton told me about those heads. They were they only way I could
get the tension I wanted.

Re: Hey,Ludwig Guys....

The description says 10 ply. Could that be older 9-ply shells plus the exotic veneer?
for $329,it is calling me.

*EDIT* Just read that all exotics are 10 ply.

Re: Hey,Ludwig Guys....

I noticed the hoop issue too. Guitar Center descriptions have never been terribly trustworthy.

Thanks for the info.

Re: Things you hate to have happen while drumming

A memory locked snare stand on a riser that isn't level . Fumbled rimshot mania!

And I had that bell bottom/beater issue on my first gigs as a kid. lol

Re: Why the hate? (Lars Ulrich)

I'm not a hater, but his playing has deteriorated, while his peers have moved forward. Charlie Benante and Dave Lombardo are both better than they were in the 80s. Lars leaves out most of the double...

Re: So how's this for bitter?

Obviously,if hired to do a job, you go with what the artist/producer wants. I understand that.I was speaking as the artist/band member. :)

Re: So how's this for bitter?

Don't even get me started. :)

It's like telling a guitarist he can't play his Les Paul. He can only use a Telecaster or everything will be ruined.

Re: hands getting beat up

I am all for powerful drumming. I play with large sticks and let the sticks do some of the work.Try not to grip too tight. 5Bs are big enough for most people to rock out with.

There is a point...

Re: hands getting beat up

Some of the splitting could be the weather. I don't know. I have never had an issue with that.

Sounds like you are playing really hard. What kind of music and what size stick?
