Re: Too Much 2 & 4

Lovely playing :-)
My opinions, for what they’re worth, are first of all that song isn’t a song that needs the drummer to play on the 2 and 4. It's got a “funk” feel that you didn’t just capture but...

Re: 6 Yamaha Kits - Video Comparison (Including PHX!)

Never mind the video, I love that Dubly T Shirt. That tops the Stonehenge or 11 ones easily

Re: Drumming & Singing Simultaneously

I'm the second best singer in both of the bands I'm in, tending towards high harmonies and falsetto, but I also sing lead on bits of songs including one extended song that allows the singer to do the...

Re: Which do you enjoy most: Playing by yourself, jamming with others, or playing live?

For me itís playing to an audience, the caveat being that the audience enjoy the show and show their appreciation. Even a small group of people that I can focus on who are smiling and getting into it...

Re: Asama drums

Iíve never heard of them but the Paiste 2002 cymbals alone are probably worth whatever you paid for them. In addition to that, 24Ē bass drums arenít Ďthatí commonplace so all in all thatís a nice...

Re: Guess what I left at home?!

Reading this has brought back some memories and given me some ideas.
Up until last weekend the only thing I’d ever forgotten to take was a set of floor tom legs. It wouldn’t have been a big deal...

Re: Next Stage Custom?

I've just had a quick look using my phone. The Superstar Classic appears to have triple flange hoops, the Superstar Maple Hyperdrive does indeed have cast hoops.
A quick look on Thomman at list...

Re: Drinking beer at a gig

Chance would be a fine thing!!
Saturday's gig saw us setting up in 27c heat (that was outside, inside was warmer) which is extremely unusual for NE England. The pub advertised a fine selection of...

Re: Next Stage Custom?

As a wish list for your ideal kit I can see where you’re coming from with your choices, but as a model line in a highly competitive market implementing all of them would price them way out of their...

Re: 8 lug snare drums. Thoughts?

There are differences between 8 and 10 lug 14” snare drums but I kind of get the feeling that as drummers with a high and very specific interest in gear we’re in danger of overstating the minutiae of...

Re: Convince me not to buy a Saturn V...

Youíre asking the wrong man if you want me to talk you out of it.
I had a Saturn III several years ago and it was the first kit Iíd played that to my ears sounded different due to the wood used in...

Re: I wish I didn't care when I was younger

When I was younger my band would get together two or theee times a week and rehearse our hour long set two or three times per night. Once we had booked a gig our singer would rehearse between song...

Re: Cozy Powell

Worth mentioning his appearances on the Glen Tipton solo albums, Baptizm Of Fire and Edge Of The World which I think was one of his last sadly, it sat on the shelf for many years before Glenn Tipton...

Re: Premier Cabria Opinions

It's the same badge as the kit I bought new in 2005.
At the time I was stunned at the quality and hardway of it compared to the last kit I'd had in 1988 which was also a low range Premier
I traded...

Re: When the band you're auditioning for,..

A few years ago I didnít even get to the rehearsal stage with one band because during email exchanging I made a point of saying that while Iím always happy to do the odd real favour, I wasnít someone...

Re: So, where are they built?..

I had one of the Premier Genista reissues a few years back. The owner of the local shop had worked closely with the Premier management of the time and he asked me which finish it was! When I told him...

Re: Why the same songs, when so many to choose from?

Getting back to the original question, even the bands who recorded the tracks originally will place them in their set as the encore years later. Judas Priest canít leaves the stage without playing...

Re: Why the same songs, when so many to choose from?

I bit my tongue metaphorically in my last post on this subject but Iím starting to get a bit vexed at some of the opinions being laid out as factual.
First of all no one seems to have questionned...

Re: Why the same songs, when so many to choose from?

For about 7 or 8 years I was in a band that took well known songs from multiple genres and played them with a ďRock/PunkĒ spin. Not simplifying them and playing them quickly, but really doing our...

Re: Should I Quit Band Due to Constant Critiques By Singer?

And there you have it, if you'd mentioned this earlier it could have saved a lot of thought from your fellow members.
I don't have a solution, tbh the moment you named the band after her you lost...

Re: Keeping Things Light

That's a belting price for what you get, I think the similar DW UL package comes in at double that!!!
I'd need to feel the weight but if it was on the lighter side of most single braced hardware it...

Re: Keeping Things Light

The discussion has shifted slightly from one about lightness of weight to start including convenience and consistency of set up.
Iíve had a rack, if I had a van then I might have kept it because at...
