unless your just stuck on yamaha, I'd look at Pearls Masters MCX line. Best sounding top quality maple kit I've seen for the money and only $100-$200 more.

I think cosmetics have alot to do with the price of DW drums. You name it, they can or will paint it for you. Of course, your going to pay for it. They do have top notch craftmanship on their kits...
