Cleaning drums Question

Is it ok to use water to clean dust off? I tried just using no water and all im doing is moving the dust side to side.

Should type of music determine what kind of ride i should look for as well? I play mostly new country music.

hmm ok, yea it just bugs me because i can never get that tone out of it i am looking for. And as a beginner i just went out and bought the whole Avedis cymbal set because i knew they were good...

Hi all,

Im still pretty new to drumming, so i had a question. I have a set of Zildjian Avedis i am using. The ride is a sweet ride. When i play my ride, it sounds too.... i dont know, too much...

Thanks! I wish there were cowboy bars in boston lol... I knew of a place in Brighton/Allston that did some, but it shut down. The other methods have not worked yet... but im keeping at it.

Thanks! ok cool i was playing it on 1 and 3 originally. Yea im just trying to keep beats for now, so it works good.... cause i dont think it has any fills in it either.

For tuning toms, do you only have to tune the batter head? I didnt see him tune the bottom side of the tom.

Also, is there a website where i can hear the basic pitch that each drum should sound...

For a 5 piece i was going to do fusion setup for the toms, a 10 and 12... but then i wasn't sure if i should get a 14 or 16 floor tom.

The heaviest stuff i would play is grunge like soundgarden,...

Are there lots of songs that you need two floor toms to play? I was looking to get a 5 piece but if theres a bunch of stuff i couldn't play without a second floor Tom, I would get a 6.

hmm ok. What do you think its worth? I saw retail for just the kit alone new is 899. and this used one includes everything except cymbals, so i was thinking it seemed like a decent price.

I am looking in the 600-800 price range for a 5 piece kit.

The two i have looked at so far are the Gretsch Catalina, and the Mapex Meridian Maple. But I would like at least a couple more kits to...

Is there a big difference between 14 and 16 size floor Tom? Some of the sets i like come with a 16 instead of 14.
