Re: YouTube will destroy drumming!

Youtube is a great resource for ALL musicians, it is a great networking tool...and with that comes a wide range of possibilities. It works for unskilled shameless self promoters just as much as it...

Re: About using the SWIVEL technique

Don't overthink the swivel technique. Its something that just happens naturally, if you try to think about it and make it happen you often end up exaggerating the motion which is detrimental to both...

Re: Mike mangini's hand technique

My thought is that mangini uses an adapted version of the gladstone technique, which works off of the free stroke concept. Gladstone relied more on rebound back his day, but mangini like many top...

Re: Mixing Brands Drums/Cymbals/Hardware

Its been said before but there is much more competition between brands now than 5-10 years ago. Meinl is right up there with sabian and paiste, while zildjian to me seems to be falling behind in...

Re: Metal Bass Drum Sound

The danmar power disk pad (not the metal kick) will make any bass drum sound more metal. Foam works as a better muffler than pillows, it kills the unwanted overtones but doesn't reduce volume as...

Re: thicker shells vs thinner shells

Thinner shells shine in the studio while thicker shells can project a little more through loud amps on stage.

Mapex 5plys/7plys are all I know, and they have great low end tone and respond...

Re: Triplet Blast Beats

Practicing it slow will only help you so much because the motion completely changes as you increase the tempo. Eventually you get to a point where the middle note of the triplet is really more of a...

Re: new to blast beats...

Yes, alternating between your lead foot and r/l hand(s). if you focus on each foot individually your bomb blast (16ths with hands and feet, usually with the snare on one) will sound much better. ...

Re: HeelToe Question (Not Technique)

Re: How to achieve 200bpm+ on double bass

The challenge of double bass is learning ankle motion. Its really difficult to move away from full leg motion, but once you understand that you have to combine heel up and heel down motion, speeds...
