I was experimenting awhile back with various monitoring methods. We have a nice size rehearsal space at about 30' x 36'.

We always ran wedges for the vocals and keyboards and just balanced them...

I didn't need to bring anything. After a few weeks, I always brought my own sticks so I didn't feel bad about chewing up the gracious kit provider...
