Hahaha.. a little martini to round it all out! Seriously nice set up. Looking forward to hear more thoughts as you get more road miles on it. Sonor has been impressive with their grab and go,...

Re: Finally!!

Got it. Can't be too careful. We just had an incident at our rehearsal space where a sump pump failed and I had an inch of standing water less than 6 inches from my bass drum. Riser in the works.

Re: Finally!!

Just a quick note here. If your drums will reside in a damp environment, it is important to run some sort of dehumidification to prevent your shells from becoming sponges and your shiny bits from...

Re: Mapex Nomad 13x6 brass

Yeah when you talk about small diameter drums, I automatically think effects side snare. I think given the right shell lay up and edge work even a small snare can be viable. Worth checking out for...

Re: Mapex Nomad 13x6 brass

Nice! Mapex snares. I have some experience with their wood shell snares. An older BP birdeye maple comes to mind. Recorded live cd playing that drum. Awesome snares! Thinking about possibility...

Re: Mapex saturn IV or BP black widow kit

Valid points. Now you have to weigh resale vs sound. This would be where the advantage of being able to hear the drums and perhaps audition a few kits side by side would benefit.

I will just say...

Re: Difference in Pearl snares . . .

I am going to say that the letter designation is a series code for an older drum. Just for some point of reference, I own a "W" series mahogany shell project and used to own an "E" series all maple...

Re: New Pearl masters MCX = Horrible!

Oh hahaha touché .. yeah stuff like that. I couldn't type the word that rhymes with "spit" and not get heat for it.
I'm just gonna back away from this thread and happily play my Saturns.

Re: New Pearl masters MCX = Horrible!

Re: Mapex saturn IV or BP black widow kit

I haven't played the BW maple kit, but I recently bought my first Mapex pro kit.
I got the Saturn lV and in 30+ years of drums and drumming, they are the best sounding drums I have owned.
