Re: Birch drums

Sonor made the birch infinite recently.

I have played recording customs a couple of times and liked them very much.

That's all I got. Why birch? And whatever happened to your sleishman dreams?

Re: Videos you can't put down

I've been watching this quite often lately.

I don't like the sound of his kit or cymbals but otherwise it's gold.

Re: Ever had the cops called on you for drumming?

Yep, when I lived in the city my band would come around to practice on Thursday nights in my tiny little apartment. I was playing my electric kit through an amp, but the guitarist kept turning up, so...

Re: Purging Gear

It's easy for me to sell the stuff that I've tried and decided I don't like/need, but as for the extra kits and snares etc that are all great - I would have to make some difficult decisions if I was...

Tempo difficulty

I think I am noticing myself having some problems with tempo lately, and even losing the pulse a bit. For those that don't know me as a drummer, I think timing and feel are important and I put time...

Re: A flammable post ;)

For the most part I agree... because my money is where my mouth is. I used a stage custom in a rock band and it just didn't have the volume or projection to compete with the guitars.. granted they...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

a starphonic steel popped up in the classifieds, I haven ever owned a pro level steel drum so I thought I owed it to myself to check it out. Done a couple of gigs with it, very happy so far. I think...

Drum manufacturers take note.

Re: Pearl Roadshow Jazz Kit

I really like the little snare on these kits.

The toms kinda remind me of the Ludwig breakbeats, not a lot of sustain but the kit is fun to muck around on, just needs some nice cymbals.

Re: How To Master Quintuplets In 5 Days.

Why did you capitalise the 'e' in "Hi Everyone"?

I'm so annoyed, here's my snarky comment.

Re: My Kids on my Kit - Pedantic?

I'm a bit pedantic too. If it bothers you - you can get a beginner kit for less than the cost of a pro level cymbal if you watch the classifieds for a few days, just do it so you can relax.

Re: My Band Played A Local Music Festival

I played an interstate festival the other week.. I was told full kits would be at every venue... I thought "great", then our sort-of-manager said "you better bring cymbals, snare and pedal".

Re: Discuss --------

At first I thought "wow those fills are a bit much" but then I realized how boring that attitude was... we are all so rigid in our pop ideals that we think we'd rather hear a pat boon debbie boon...

Re: Has learning to play drums ruined anything for you?

Never too fussy about production but yes if I watch an otherwise good band with a crappy drummer I do find it a bit harder to appreciate the band.

Apart from that there is that nagging...

Re: Anyone who doesn't break sticks?

I'm not sure, but probably the wrong technique or inherent flaws in the cymbals. I used to only play ufip cymbals, The smaller crashes and a china developed cracks. I haven't cracked any other brand...

Re: Anyone who doesn't break sticks?

I vaguely remember breaking a stick when I first started out, but I think it was a hand me down (second hand) drum stick. So yeah I go around saying "never broken a stick".

I've only recently...

Re: I'm giving away a black beauty snare drum, here.

Actually Paul (Midnight) is a nice guy, he offered to catch up with me when I got to LA but I had to flake as I was anxious about my schedule, he always seems to be hunting for bargains so he might...

Re: Every riff in a different BPM?

Your friend is silly.

Hopefully this hasn't formed any bad habits and rather a unique skill that you might have to randomly call on someday.

I would probably look for other people to play with.
