Hey all,
So, as a freelance drummer, I'm in 2-3 projects at a time. But they're frequent flyers (not one-offs).

Re: Taking back your gigs

seems everyone has answered, and you made your move.
Another option for the future would be something like

Re: Playing With Backing Tracks Live

Playing with Non-seasoned pros:
I prefer playing with 'click only' in my ears if possible.
This helps when playing with players who may or may not mess up. If you're playing with a track, and the...

Re: Latest AH HA moment...

My fav ah-ha moment I've had was when I realized my left hand was finally strong enough to give really solid blast beats. I'd even go so far as to say stronger sounding/feeling than my right. ...

Re: What are your stories of when people found out you are drummer?

Without fail:
"Oh yeah? What is your band called?"

My reply is usually one of my bands, which is a band they haven't heard of or seen on MTV.

then they say "oh, ok."

But yeah, I guess...

Re: we've all seen videos of kids playing drums but....

HO-LY HELL.

This is just beyond anything I've ever seen.
In my mind I go through:
"Well, I should just quit"
To: "Well I'd like to see him on STAGE playing with a band, and entertaining a...

Re: Playing With Headphones: What Gear?

Yes, simply plug headphones into an ipod, or laptop. And play along.
BUT, when playing along to music, you need to consider 2 things; quality of sound going into your ears, and comfort.

I've...

Re: My 2014 NAMM report

Re: Double pedal a good idea for a beginner?

What kind of music do you like?

I started playing drums for one reason and one reason only. To play Metallica.
So naturally my first purchase was a double kick pedal. I literally never learned...

Re: How to...

The more elaborate you get, the more expensive, but a...

Re: Cowbell placement

I'd offer that it depends on what hand you really want to play it with. If you can handle it with your left hand, then try it an the hi-hat rod.

here's a video of me playing, with it on the hi-hat...

My suggestion is 'get used to the fact that, like a new car, it WILL get scratched and dinged. No matter how careful you are.'

with that empowering thought, go ahead and move em! Heck, try new...

Re: Too much time between songs during a gig

Great thread.
