Re: How to think of these groove

Eight's** not sixteenths. I told him to count in quarter notes so that the ghost (stack) notes don't interfere with counting the main rhythm. if they really are counting in 8/8 it's because the riff...

Re: How to think of these groove

Ahhhh good ol' perrrriphery!
It differs person to person, some feel the groove stronger in different instruments/specific rhythms. I'd say for the staccoto riff you should be feeling the snare...

Re: 3 piece for Metal (is it good enough)?

Marshall stack? More like an Axe FX xD

Lol yeah I know who they are I said "wut" because no drummer for ROS has used only a 10" and 12" as a tom set up.
Anyway yeah the new drummer (who is in...

Re: 3 piece for Metal (is it good enough)?

Of course you can play metal with a three piece but, it depends on your style as well as the band not just simply the genre. Matt Halpern used a three pice on the first album because it was...

Re: What kind of grip does this drummer use?

Lulz

I see mostly french, a real loose french grip. His wrist is also bent and his fingers sorta stick out downwards. I think this either a variation of french or a different grip that I forgot...

Re: Hahahahahahahaha :)

Well I say assume even if I have a strong opinion on something because, I'm in no place to say whether you really do or don't understand progressive music. Considering I don't know you and made a...

Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

Very interesting it is. I think these kinds of think are more common than people think. Like how most of the population is right handed but a good portion differ between kicking with their left foot...

Re: Hahahahahahahaha :)

I'll just assume neither of you understand the style/genre called progressive or know how to apply it to this conversation. Moving on.

LOL...moving on as well.

As to all of you who are debating...

Re: Hahahahahahahaha :)

Well that video helped, now I understand why this is such a big deal. Just because he added a progressive style to a church song everyone made a big deal out of it. What a shame.

Re: Hahahahahahahaha :)

Lol to both of you, I never said he did fantastic or "good" or anything in that matter. I just said he didn't do that bad, at least not for a million views.

Re: Can you practice buzz roll on a drumpad?

I would get a snare drum, because if you don't already have one, there's a pretty big gap in this equation. If your epads have a tension setting then yes, if you're using high rebound practice pads...

Re: Hahahahahahahaha :)

Pretty sure it'd make a difference on high end Rolands, and actually it sounded like it made a difference in the video.

Anyway, he didn't do too bad imo, not sure if those stops were planned but...

Oh no problem, and thank you then! haha you know that word worked both ways because I really did see your point (of course it has occurred to me before). Like I said I'm still working on left hand...

Re: "Play something." What do you play?

Depends who's asking, generally everyone just wants to hear a stupid fast fill. If an actual drummer asked...time to bust out polyrhythmic jazz grooves!

Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

That's a cool idea, I've tried jamming to a few songs left lead. More or so what I do now is just get the metronome going and just jam all left lead so I become more comfortable.

Ah I see, well...

Re: THE AMBIDEXTROUS THREAD

Ah that's cool! and I hear ya I think we're all weird haha once I got comfortable playing ambidextrously I started choosing left limbs over right. I switch up the dominance between my feet and hands...

Re: Drum Set Care and Humidifiers

Dang...I've been avoiding this. My drums (and guitars) have been in a dessert for years now, could there be any damage and is it reversible? Or do my massive amounts of sweat compensate for the...

Re: Drummers that can't tune drums.

Hah most drummers I know/see don't know how to tune their drums at all. It's always the over tightened snare that has insane overtones or its covered in duct tape. The toms are always de tuned or...

Re: Annoyed and disappointed with myself

Any reason you weren't playing on your own kit? And how does two floor toms make anything difficult? And I think I remember a post from you a while ago about not being loud enough, do you never get...
